Game description

The Sun has awoken

Thea: The Awakening takes place in fantasy world that has been held by the darkness for over a century. The gods are getting their powers back, and you must help them, their nearly extinct followers, to fully awaken. The story is captivating, borrowing heavily from real life mythos like the different types of demons, modern day fantasy and many well established fantasy themes. The game itself is branded as a 4x strategy, but it really doesn't fit that genre very well. It goes beyond that in many ways, but also falls well below those definitions. Its a turn-based 4x survival, with strategy and cards mixed into the game. The gameplay works well, and i would venture to say its even charming. The challenge being your location and starting party are completely random. One game may get you hunters, and stealth in your exploration party, while your city gets gatherers and builders. Resources are the same way, you may get wood and string, but no food. Your available options during engagements depend on who is in your group. Graphics are good, music is solid. My only complaint so far is the card mini game when you have a fight or challenge. The tutorial for this has 24 slides, whereas the rest average 4-6, is overly complicated, and entirely unnecessary. Just auto-resolve it and move on. The difficulty of each mob is designated by skulls, so far i have found 6. 1-5 skulls and a gold skull. So, its more like Endless legends and less like Civ 5 with the survival genre thrown in. Its addictive and fun to play. Definitely on my top 20 to experience at least once.

Absolutely worth it.

I'm a bit hooked after playing 13 hours the first day I bought the game. I LOVE strategy games, and this one is unlike most I have played. PROS: Good story. The events that happen are constantly changing and have different outcomes. Leveling up and equiping my teams with great gear has become an addiction, and despite the world being small, there's a ton to do. The game is tough, even when played on easy novice, but not too tough that you don't want to play. Just tough enough that you aren't bored. Getting the hang of the game is quite easy, and is done in the first hour, but mastering this game could take ages. CONS: No save, other than an autosave every 5 turns, which is super annoying for someone like me, who hates every negative outcome or the death of a person. Every time I die and reload (and sit through a two minute load screen), the tutorial popups start over at the beginning. There's no way to turn them off without starting a new game, and losing the hours and hours of building my little town. The battle screen is done in a card battle format, which is absolutely NOT for me. I just press "auto resolve" or I lose. AND sometimes they will give you a starting twon where the people you begin with all do literally no damage. You can't kill even the first mobs of the game. They rate the enemies with a 1-5 skull toughness system, but it's very difficult to tell how many skulls your team can safely go up against. All-in-all, I really like it. worth the cost, especially if you get it on sale.

Survival Strategy game ? YES YES YES !

This is an RPG survival and strategy turn based combat game with rogue like elements with a big world to explore, based on Slavic mythology you play as one of divine characters although not all of them are available in the early access version of the game , you start after awakening Thea with little power and you must survive to gain greater power and help your people , you start in your village where your people live, you need to manage the village. The game is very deep and complex and you might spend 15 minutes on the tutorial to get a comprehensive grasp of the game , your villagers have skills and you can put them to good use to craft things and collect resources that are needed for resources , and unlock new craftables like weapons and building materials , you can explore your surroundings and search for resources , each location you search gives you a danger ratio meaning that there's a chance you'll encounter dangerous things inside and you search at your own risk. when you encounter enemies you get into the turn based combat stance , and you need to pick fighters from your village before each exploration trip in case of a fight happening , the fights feel much like Yu Gi Oh because you see your units and your enemies as cards so it's a nice way of portraying combat , you get to place more units down each turn and attack phase will begin after all the guards are down and you've chosen your units' attack strategies, once you defeat your attackers you have the option to loot them and carry on exploring . the graphics are neat , you have an aerial view of your village and surroundings and most of the game is played via UI and menus that look nice and have a medieval feel to it , the music is very atmospheric and captivating , if you're into strategy turn based games this one is an amazing game to have in your collection,
