I played this game with a friend and dear was I scared all the time (Probably because I was only 14..). The world is pretty colourful in terms of how many zones there are and the zombies wear the fashion that fits the environment. The music can be pretty depressing and eerie, as the world is pretty dead, except for you and other players (animals and trees are just there). Exploring is pretty much core to the gameplay and the building aspect makes it much better, but also allows for some cringe and derpy moments, for example: During the night, the zombies are pretty mad and will do anything to get to you - they will break through the ground, climb up, destroy doors, foundations and so on. What I and a friend did is just dig a hole, make it pretty inside and cover it up with some dirt. We were technically on ground level, so the zombies just ran past, as we made ramps over the bunker (It used to be like this before - they wouldn't break blocks if you were on ground level and they were not being blocked). The zombie variety used to be big, now I don't know. I played the game 4 years ago so I'm sure many good things happened to it. I highly recommend it, as long as you're not alone.
I started playing 7 days to die on ps4 after seeing it on sale for pc i bought it and have never gone back. T.F.P. have done an awesome job at improving the game in almost every single way over the past few years since release. The game does have a hard learning curve but once you get the hang of it, it gets very fun to see what you can build and how to fight the hordes. The graphics have been improved as well getting rid of the pixilation and stuttering over its past updates. Keep up the good work guys looking forward to Alpha 17 and beyond.
Even though it is an early access game it is one of the shining examples of it. They are continually working on the game and it morphs so much every time I come back to it. The developers are invested in this title and it keeps getting better and better. Even though it is still in development it has more content than most "AAA" games. This is one of the only early access survival games that I would recommend investing in - even for full price. It hard to comment more than this as the game has gone through so many changes that my review would just become obsolete so quickly. Since playing they have completely revamped the way mining, crafting, building, and character progression work while also upgrading the graphics and animations including how zombies react to how you hit them and with what. They have added deeper farming mechanics and are continually adding new items to the game which change how it is played if you use them. I would be quite content if this game never comes out of early access because they are putting so much work into it I never want the improvements and additions to stop!
One of the best creative survival sandbox type games out there at the moment. The developers are constantly working on it, and the updates are consistent and usually include quite a bit of new content and bug fixes. I give a lot of credit to the developers for really keeping in touch with the community to improve the future of the game. Awesome to play with friends. Geared more towards long term survival where you need to tier up your gear and skills, be a bit creative, explore, scavenge. If you want to just smash zombies in 1 hit right off the bat, then you might want to look at something else.
If you're someone who loves zombie shooter games with an open world and enjoy crafting with survival elements, I'd highly recommend this to you, the first time I looked at it on steam the graphics didn't pull me in so I glazed over it, but I received it as a gift and played a bit, got over the initial learning-curve and then discovered its a great immersive game. The new experimental release of alpha 16 added a lot of new content and mechanics, including distant view of POIs which takes the game to a whole other level and as a PVE player I enjoy the game in single player, but the game shines best in multiplayer.
