Game description

Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation, a turn-based dungeon-crawling game based on the Dungeons & Dragons Adventure System board games.

On the deadly peninsula of Chult, an adventuring party must fight their way through dangerous jungles, labyrinths and dungeons to find and reverse the cause of the death curse. Choose to play as one or more of the four adventurers (Artus Cimber, Asharra, Birdsong, and Dragonbait) to face many perilous challenges and deadly foes throughout the quest.

A former member of the Harpers, Artus Cimber is the keeper of the Ring of Winter. He found the ring in the jungles of Chult, where he also met his wife, Alisanda. His skill with a bow and arrow, as well as with a dagger is unequaled, making him a fearsome ranger. It goes without saying that the Ring of Winter has given Artus powers so strong he can freeze an enemy to death with the touch of a finger.

In Kir Sabal, Asharra is the leader of the Aarakocra community. Others refer to her as Teacher, and revere her as a living saint. Asharra is intelligent, ambitious, and somewhat manipulative, but never cruel or insensitive. Besides her leadership duties, Asharra is a powerful mage capable of handling even the most complex of spells.

Birdsong, a cunning young Tabaxi bard, learned to defend herself while enslaved by the Yuan-Ti. Proficient to play the lute, Birdsong discovered her potential as a bard when witnessing the effect her songs had on other slaves. After her escape, she became one of the greatest minstrels of Chult. She promised herself to, one day, get revenge on the Yuan-Ti who destroyed her village.

Dragonbait is a champion of good and a saurial - a race that originated on a distant world and whose members have long lives. Calm by nature, Dragonbait does not give the image of a dangerous foe, but once in combat, his training and precision makes him a devastating adversary.

Fantastic D&D adventure board with amazing combat system

This game is really amazing and it's a great D&D adventure board game, and I really was surprised by this one, because it has almost everything you could expect from a tactical D&D adventure board game. it's gameplay feels very familiar for the fans and you get a hang of it as soon as you start to play the game, tactical combat system is very amazing and also challenging, and makes the experience even more enjoyable and fun for you. the game's presentation including the visuals and sounds are really great too and if you are a fan of D&D adventure board games, you really should try this fantastic game!

A good digital version of the board game

Tales from Candlekeep Tomb of Annihilation is based on the series of D&D board games which is partly based on some of the rules from 4th edition D&D. It mostly follows the rules of the game but adds a crafting system and allows you to use adrenaline surges gained from beating enemy to cancel out bad events rather than by spending XP. You start with the ability to play as one of four heroes and eventually unlock the ability to control all four at once, each character has a unique passive ability, at will powers, and utility and daily powers that can only be used once in each quest. Quests each have three difficulty settings and you attempt to complete their objective by moving characters to the edge of large titles which drops another piece on the board with randomized enemies, treasure chests, traps, and space that can lead to the next tile. If you don't explore events are drawn that can cause certain thing to happen, mostly bad things. The game is still being updated with some good upcoming changes (like seeing hit chance and enemy stats) and they seem to be thinking over their implementation of line of sight. The main issues are that the price can be fairly high for the amount of content, though the game does look good, if they planned to add or sell the other games or heroes from those games for a reasonable price it would give more value and options to the game.

D&D Adventure Board Game: Digital version

Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation is Dungeons and Dragons Adventure Game, based on a board game and it is adaptation of it for PC. Basically, it is turn-based RPG on a board. While graphics and sound are competent and gameplay itself fun and challenging, don't expect any mindblowing plot, Divinity Original Sin, Baldur's Gate or anything of the sort, because it is digital board game. The biggest draw of it is that it is single-player only, when the original board game could be played with 4 or 5 other people. It's a real shame that there is not even a hot-seat option to play together. And all, countless iterations of Talisman show that it is possible to make multiplayer game out of a board game, so why there is none of here is a big question. Still, fun game to play alone, but nothing mindblowing - just digitised version of a good board game, lacking any sort of multiplayer or co-op.
