There are better fighting games out there. This game just feels unfinished. This game has really weird controls and an assist button that doesn't work half of the time. I only had 2 fights into Arcade and still did not understand my characters moveset. I will give it this though, the visuals are nice. It's a bit more risky than Skullgirls but not to 18+ levels. The character designs do look good, I just wish I knew more about them, I feel like this is just a game you'd see in the corner of an arcade that nobody touches. Vanguard Princess doesn't control well, I played with both keyboard and controller and yet still did not understand what my characters moveset was. The assist button felt like it didn't work half of the time. There's also certain attacks that just do a combo for you, it's like the game is playing itself. There are better fighting games than this.
This is probably one of my favorite types of fighting games, the type harkening back to the days of glory of two of my old time favorites of Street Fighter and Darkstalkers. While I admit that it doesn't have the best presentation around when talking about looks and gameplay, the price tag of under $5 more than makes up for that. It's a fun little game that I highly recommend for an afternoon of enjoyment.
Pretty much what you can see in the screen caps. Ten playable characters (you can buy 2 special characters!) and a simple yet enjoyable experience. If you like fighting games and anime/manga you will enjoy this. As opposed to BlazBlue, Vanguard Princess it's more ''traditional'', it doesn't even have hi res backgrounds or 3D elements. It's pretty much like Street Fighter. It's a must have if you like this kind of drawing and/or fighting games!
Indie fighting game, anime theme, small cast of fighters, all chicks, and lolis.. there's only a few reasons of why you would pick this game: 1 you like anime 2 you love anime 3 you really really love anime. Honestly if your not into anime, you would be making a mistake getting this game, even if you like fighting games if your not into anime you will be saying "W T F" every 2 seconds. The history mode sucks, there is no real argument, and to make things worst, a multiplayer mode that was spoke of but never got into the main game... I gonna be fully honest here people, this game was literally F2P, you could download the drm free version from the official site, and the steam version does has 1 more extra character (that is pay dlc) and a more updated version then the drm free one, but I cannot tell ya to buy it, because without multiplayer no idea if is even worth 1 dollar. On a good side, animations are well done, graphics are OK, and is fun to play, tho very unbalanced, is fun. IF you have someone to play it, well get it, for play vs the cpu only I don't think you should buy it, but is up to you really, if you like anime like I do, you will probably pick this one up. Have Fun!
Vanguard Princess is a bad game according to retail standards but extremely well executed according to average doujinshi standards... given the price I'd just say it's a low budget nice game. While animations and effects are definitely on par with old-school 2d competitor fighting games, mechanics, which probably are the most important compartment on a fighting game, are definitely not good. I'd say mechanics are just a copy paste from different games without thinking too much about balance. Speaking of balance there are balance issues also with game characters because, again, they didn't work much on that compartment. Another thing that is completely lacking is "technical" execution: you have no screen resolution options (this hurts) and no tutorial whatsoever. So the first time you play this you have to figure out the controls/mechanics mid-fight, fighting on a small 640x480 window... As a side note I'd like to tell you where they focused their work on: "ecci". Characters are female only, from childish to "mature", loli-dressed or just undressed and often showing "pantsu" or bouncing boobs. If you're into that this game is a must have. To recap, the game is definitely not a solid fighter but without doubts it is fun to play if you like old school fighting games. Given the price, I'd like to recommend the game to everynyan!
