A well worth it sequel

Haven't played the first one yet? Well, I suggest you pick it and this up for the holiday season. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus picks up right after The New Order and immediately throws you into the fray, killing Nazis with hopeless abandon. The story was always good, and this one doesn't disappoint. I finished it very recently and, besides an obvious sequel setup at the end, was entire ride was very pleasant and worthwhile. 2 thumbs up from me!

Well written, well directed, enjoyable gameplay, and good and at times humorous commentary

Good writing, well directed, characters that can be both serious or funny. Good commentary on current events, America's support of white supremacy and the black revolutionaries, socialist, women, and disabled that have historically fought it. Characters, plot, and well done collectibles point out historic/current politics or US atrocities either to enhance the story, to highlight historic details that would have effected characters, for humor, or to turn things around on the US by having them the country that had a atomic bomb used on them to end the war. Great base characters that are able to give most side characters a personality or include more details on the world. Satisfying shooting and movement, not many weapons but upgrades can make you change the way some of them work. Two timelines with different cut scenes, base interactions, and weapons. Poor perk system just wastes time, having you perform certain tasks to increase ammo capacity or to take less damage from certain kinds of attacks. Leaning allows you to really exploit the enemy AI, picking up enemy heavy weapons becomes pointless once your rifle, shotgun, and pistol are upgraded, and the large robotic enemies really aren't fun to fight and when you take the most logical upgrades they pose no real threat. Characters introduced near the end of the game had a great introduction scene and one had a good moment in the base interactions, but they get very little time to do anything. Really good ending and credit scenes partially ruined by horrible credits theme.

A worthwhile sequel to another great game

I remember picking up Wolfenstein: The New Order and thinking how awesome it looked in concept. Playing through it just validated those thoughts and the same goes with Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. Some noteworthy improvements made over New Order: -Skills and upgrades have been reworked a bit to compensate your play-style. When you upgrade a weapon you can take the upgrade of, or pile them on, for specific circumstances. -You can playthrough a past Wolfenstein game in a single sitting, and save your progress to boot. In New Order, you had to complete each section hidden away in every level, or not bother with it. -Wolfenstein: New Colossus focuses more on its story, than New Order, but doesn't skimp on the outstanding gameplay. Done with the introduction? Yes. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is a direct sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order, a take of alternate history where the Nazis won World War II using super advanced technology. Wolfenstein 2 boasts an improved version of New Order's gameplay. The level design has been significantly improved over its predecessor and complements the weapon system as well. Weapons have specific upgrades which you can pile on together or take off based off of your gameplay style or circumstances in the game. In addition to weapon upgrades there are also contraption upgrades too. Contraptions are effectively super-buff abilities you will be able to use in the later half of the game. They effectively dictate how you want to play the rest of the game, but all other contraptions can be acquired through side missions if you aren't happy with your initial choice. In terms of gameplay, this effectively wraps it up without spoiling anything. But what about the story? And hub world? Locations you visit? Problems with the game? Wolfenstein 2 is overall more focused on the story than Wolfenstein: The New Order. That much is worth noting, and divulging into the game's story would be inappropriate. However, elements to cutscenes and the story can be seen while going around the hub world, listening in on Nazi conversations, etc. In some cases you can see what a character is doing before a cutscene as some added context. This goes for both in the hub and outside in missions. Like Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein 2 has a hub world where you can do a variety of things from playing a past Wolfenstein game, testing your skills at the shooting range, interacting with characters, and using a an Enigma machine to decode locations of the 'overlord' Ubercommanders of the United States. There isn't much else to say about it. Locations in Wolfenstein 2 are far more diverse than in Wolfenstein: The New Order. The designs of each area are also more unique and are easier to tell a part. Some notable areas you will be visiting are New York, and Roswell. If you played Wolfenstein: The New Order, you can imagine the over-the-top things Wolfenstein 2 probably has going. Last, but not least, why is this game not a 5/5 star rating? This has to deal with technical issues, its UI and autosave. Like any other game, it may take some time adjusting to the UI, but it can cause some confusion to find some specific things like the map. A typical hotkey press may not get you to where you want because of the way the UI is setup. The game also had some problems with autosave locations being very awkward on harder difficulties. This was especially prevalent on a mission focusing specifically on our protagonist. I'm not a wizard, but unfortunately, these issues may be with the game well into the future. At the very least the autosave issue can be gotten around by saving regularly and technical difficulties, on the other hand, can be patched over time. But some of the problems that stop this game from reaching even higher heights come down to things that are largely not related to the game's story nor gameplay. Thankfully, during my time playing, none of the technical problems I encountered were game breaking or serious. Overall I really enjoyed Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. The campaign alone will run you about 10-15 hours, depending on if you want to take your time or not. And the game's fluidity in allowing you to choose how you want to play is an improvement over its predecessor. I overwhelmingly recommend this game for its exceptional gameplay and story.

100% recommended for all FPS fans!

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is the third game in Wolfenstein trilogy and it was my most anticipated game in the series, I followed and watched every single preview and gameplay videos they launched before the release and really couldn't wait more for it! and at last thanks to Machine Games studios it happened today and every thing was exactly as I expected, a title truly worthy of Wolfenstein series! the story is better and more deeper than 2 previous games and I really loved it, the gameplay and gunplay is absolutely brilliant and is exactly what every FPS fans could expected with lots of weapons and gadgets and the sounds and musics is well fit for the game perfectly. this game is really awesome and is fantastic, I replayed 2 previous games a month before the release of this one so i won't feel lost in the storytelling and I'm glad i did it! This is the best conclusion for BJ Blazkowicz saga and every fans of the series should experience it, 100% RECOMMENDED and You won't get disappointed at all!

The best FPS this year

Wolfenstein is the best shooter to come out in a long time. It's a single player experience. The game's narrative is top notch. its full of colorful characters and creative world building. It kept me engaged for the entire 20 hour run-time. The guns are the stars of the show. Each feels meaty and packs a punch. Dual wielding is pure awesome. The enemy designs are creative and varied. The boss fights are jaw dropping. Combat is satisfying. You can go in guns blazing or take a stealthy approach. I highly recommend it.
