Soar through a game world with a unique art style and a mysterious story that unravels before you.
Grappling hook: An empowering mechanic that gives you a sensation of speed, flow and vertigo like you’ve never experienced before.
Explore the world: Visit a wonderful and exciting world - from paradisal caves, to lost civilizations and harsh, mystical landscapes.
Emphasis on story: While searching for your uncle you will meet creatures with stories and fates of their own. Take your time to explore the world to dig deeper into the narrative.
Non-violent: A Story About My Uncle is a First Person game, but it is driven by non-violent gameplay and a heavy emphasis on story and atmosphere.
A short first person platformer with a suit that gains the powers to jump high, run fast, attach a hook to objects to swing from or to pull himself forward, and to use rocket boots. The story is framed as a man telling his daughter the story of how he entered a strange world while searching for his missing uncle. As he finds things left behind by his uncle the objects causes him to tell other stories to his daughter as you continue to traverse the environment, these stories are often sweet and give you more insight on the father and daughter. It can be very enjoyable to explore the beautiful environments while using the suit to swing or long jump around the map. The final levels do start to drag on and where you are supposed to hook on to starts to get difficult to spot. Collectibles don't seem to do anything or add to story. The hook seems to have trouble working sometimes, either occasionally getting you stuck on things or the physics causing strange things to happen.
This was an interesting mix of logic puzzles/platformer/story game/spiderman and I can't even begin to describe just how in awe I am that this was never done before. The grapple mechanics are very intuitive and i could spend all day just swinging about and using my rocket boots. I just wish the game was a little longer, or at least open ended, because once I finished the story line I wanted to keep playing and discovering new areas. Replaying the main story isn't as interesting the second time around (and really your just trying to beat your times or doing challenges), but it is still just so much fun to grapple around and do silly things. You really do feel as if your flying through the air and playing this game makes me wish for more like this. <3
That's one very entertainment and fun adventure game featuring platformer elements. It has a lot of levels, the art style is well made, and the character and every detail is well drown. The graphics are very cool, the abilities you can use also fits well in the whole game, You can feel how real it is once you get into the game and pass few levels. The graphics are just amazingly real. You have different powers, but first you start only with one. The game requires to use your logic a lot for some of the levels. The storyline is going through how a boy with abilities is searching for his lost uncle. There is a great narrator voice which follows you through the game, and the melodies during the game are just amazing.
