The year is 2052 and the world is a dangerous and chaotic place. Terrorists operate openly - killing thousands; drugs, disease and pollution kill even more. The world's economies are close to collapse and the gap between the insanely wealthy and the desperately poor grows ever wider. Worst of all, an ages old conspiracy bent on world domination has decided that the time is right to emerge from the shadows and take control.

Key Features:

  • Real role-playing from an immersive 3D, first-person perspective. The game includes action, character interaction and problem solving.

  • Realistic, recognizable locations. Many of the locations are built from actual blueprints of real places set in a near future scenario.

  • A game filled with people rather than monsters. This creates empathy with the game characters and enhances the realism of the game world.

  • Rich character development systems: Skills, augmentations, weapon and item selections and multiple solutions to problems ensure that no two players will end the game with similar characters.

  • Multiple solutions to problems and character development choices ensure a varied game experience. Talk, fight or use skills to get past obstacles as the game adapts itself to your style of play.

  • Strong storyline: Built on "real" conspiracy theories, current events and expected advancements in technology. If it's in the game, someone, somewhere believes

Every time you mention Deus Ex, SOMEONE will reinstall it

I still remember the very first time I met this gem... It was the demo version containing the beginning of the adventures of JC Denton and it was love at first sight, I finished it numerous times so I had to get the full release of course. I was amazed by the possibilities the game offered for solving problems by being sneaky, thorough or just go guns blazing and all of them were legit playstyles. The world was so immersive with all the interactions with the characters and objects, it's not surprising that so many people consider this the best PC game ever created. If you like sci-fi, conspiracy theories, cyberpunk themed action games then I highly recommend this game. A couple of things to keep in mind though; the game was released in the year 2000 so it looks quite dated and the voice acting is not the best either. There is an unofficial mod called "Deus Ex: Revision" which aims to improve the visuals and the overall game experience, so you might want to give a try that one too.

Amazing and timeless classic.

The first Deus Ex is one of the better if not the best RPG game I have ever encountered. Despite 15 years of age, it still plays the same. Unfortunately for the younger generation the graphics will be very disappointing, however, there is an easy fix for that. Just use Deus Ex: Revision mod available on steam and you will enjoy high resolution graphics. The game itself is revolutionary and I dare to claim that it is still on top level. The problems that we encounter in this game, we can go around in a lot of ways, but it depends on us how we approach it. Great title.

My writing is augmented

While the graphics look incredibly outdated, controls on PC are not so great and RPG elements are kind of unbalanced, one thing that is truly excellent in this game only handful of games barely achieved it's level is writing. While on the surface it looks like simple conspiracy story and fight against evil corporations, it actually goes deeper and can make you think about a thing or two in real life, without getting preachy. It's really smart and beauty of it is in the small details. Gameplay itself is also good and if it wasn't for the controls, it could've been perfect. Thankfuly, this game has mods to fix it's issues, like aged graphics and controls. Level design is also really good and complex, making every new playthrough different. If you never played deus ex you absolutetly must play it, because it's really excellent title. If you felt like something was missing and want to find out what happened with the world after Deus Ex: Human Revolution/Mankind Divided, this game also explains it. Great game, strongly recommended.

Probably the best game ever made

I'll be brief - Deus Ex is probably the best game ever made and possibly one of the best pieces of entertainment, media, etc of all time. It is essential to play. The game looks a little rough lately but a dedicated mod community has cleaned up the graphics, so it looks better if you do some digging for mods. Deus Ex is crafty, charming, and scarily clairvoyant.

Deus Ex is unique

It was quite hard learning to play by the game's rules, I had to give it a chance and not rage-quit, but after some missions you can see where the game shines and why it is prized this much. The action was good, stealth good and there were some nice quests. I really like the fact that bodies can be moved and hidden so others don't see them. Graphics are also nice, I really like that you can change the colors of the menus, you don't see that on every game! :D
