That's what I've put into the game on Steam so far. 400 hours. This game is completely addictive. It's all about delivering your cargo as safely as possible across Europe. The game is absolutely superb. Be warned though, this isn't a game about driving fast. It's about driving realistically. You get fines for speeding or causing collisions. You can damage your truck and/or cargo. So you'll want to obey all traffic laws along the way. I must say it's so relaxing to just be cruising through the European countryside, listening to country music stations (via the in-game internet radio) and just enjoying the beautiful sites and scenery along the way. If you ever had dreams of driving a big truck or even are retired from it and miss it, this is your chance to do so. Highly recommend playing with a steering wheel/pedals/shifter and at least triple-screen monitors if not VR headsets, though the game is still fun even with just an Xbox controller on a single screen. The only reason this game doesn't rate a higher score from me is the fact that it's VERY CPU bound (seems to not care much about multiple cores either) and runs (for now, talks of an update happening eventually) on an out of date game engine. Even with those flaws though it's still a remarkable game/sim and I highly recommend it.
As someone with no interest in trucking I'm surprised at just how enjoyable this game is. It's slow, it's frustrating at times, but when you're out on the road there's a feeling of relaxation and freedom that makes it quite appealing. Not for everyone, of course, but give it a try, especially if it's on sale.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 has a special place in my Steam library. It is a game that I play on rainy days, hot days, or just days that have been a bummer. There is nothing incredibly exciting about ETS2 (at least not for me), but it is incredibly rewarding. Boring is not the word; I think that relaxing is a better description. The trucks are incredibly detailed and customisable, but the environment and other vehicles are lacking. However, this does not detract from the game, as it is very easy to sit back, relax, and get lost in ETS2's version of Europe.
I never would’ve thought that I would ever play a game like Euro Truck Simulator 2, let alone buying it. If you would’ve told me a year ago that I would play a game like this for many hours, I would still be laughing today. However, I did buy the game during a discount – of course after I played the demo for a bit – and I’m glad I did. This game can hold your attentions for hours at a time, and playing this game in full graphical glory is a thrill. Build your own company, expand throughout Europe and become the godfather of the trucking road. A big thumbs up from my side!
The best way to describe Euro Truck Simulator 2, I think, is the word meditative. This is not a racing game, and it's all the better for it. It's a game that punishes you for not following the road rules or driving unsafely. It's a game that doesn't even let you go fast. It is, as the name suggests, all about trucking through Europe. The routes are scenic enough, and the variation in weather and daytime adds some challenges to the driving experience. But the game is about getting cargo from location A to B within a particular time frame. And it's a very relaxing experience.
