Soul Gambler is a choice based visual novel with a comic book style aesthetic that is partially based on the Faust play (you're character is even named Faust), you agree to sell your soul for favorable events to occur in your life and can spend it like currency during certain scenes. The game is short but leads to three different endings. The problem with the game is that it forces you onto very linear paths leading to those three endings, choices you would think would lead to an early ending just force you to take other paths, your stats that you put in health, manipulation, intelligence, and charm ends up not mattering, neither do your choices apart from what leads to what end. It's certainly not as interesting a take on the Faust tale as something like Witcher 3's Heart of Stone expansion but it's a decently written game that can be enjoyable for a playthrough or just to see the different endings but it's nothing that will stick with you or impress you with it's visual, soundtrack, or choices. The Dark Arts edition comes with a soundtrack and artbook. As the music offers little variety and isn't a strong point of the game this isn't a very interesting addition but for what it is the artbook isn't bad. The art itself is nothing impressive but reading a few of the design choices and seeing what wasn't included can be interesting for some people. For the low additional price it can be worth it if that interests you.
It is hard to walk by Soul Gambler without noticing this game, rich story and player choices that matter through the gameplay. What is really interesting is the fact some trivial choices made at some point in the game come out of the blue later. Apart from the great game, we get a nice addition of a game soundtrack and art book. While looking at the price I see no reason not to buy the whole package.
