Vampire of the Sands is a top town real time rougelike where you have been resurrected to go into different areas and defeat bosses. You can choose between four characters that have a positive and negative to each of them and as you play you can unlock points that can be spent on filling up and increasing the size of a large grid, inside the grid you will place blocks that will give you access to different powerups every time you start the game. These powerups might be starting with a weapon, a random armor, a random other piece of equipment, faster attacks, faster speed, abilities to resist attacks, etc. The ability to customize your character is a nice touch but will take a lot of grinding to start to fill out. The gameplay itself allows you to attach weapons to your left and right mouse button that will run out of durability and break from use, cloaks will allow you to take an extra hit and might give a special ability, magic scrolls can be used once, and a mask can be worn to give you another passive ability. What can hurt the game is the randomness of the design because you need to gain souls in order to stay alive, requiring you to move faster to either find them or to reach and kill a boss who will drop some, this combined with a one hit death and enemies that have fast ranged attacks or that will likely move faster than you make the feel a bit unfair and further the need to grind to unlock starting abilities. On the positive side the game features a large variety of enemies, good variety of equipable items, and the music and look of the game is nice but the actual gameplay itself isn't as good as many other games in the genre.
Vampire of the sands is a in my opinion a very easy game however it is also very entertaining and offers a lot of unique enemies to battle,104 different enemies, and they all have different AI which can get tricky sometimes and will lead to many deaths. It is a pixel game but the graphics are still good with well chosen colours and good music to accompany the gameplay. It is available for a sweet price of 37 cents and for that price there isn't any reason not to pick it up.
