AEW Fight Forever isn’t just the latest pro-wrestling video game to come along, but it also happens to be one of the first big pro-wrestling games to come from a non-WWE organisation. Based upon the increasingly popular global wrestling promotion All-Elite Wrestling (AEW), AEW Fight Forever looks set to mimic the high-octane matches and high-risk moves that have defined the promotion since its inception.
Any wrestling promotion is only as good as the wrestlers that have been signed to its roster and in the case of AEW Fight Forever, we still don’t have a top to bottom view of every wrestler that will be included on its roster. Nonetheless, what we do have is a list of the currently confirmed wrestlers in AEW Fight Forever as they currently stand, along with a healthy dose of insight about which wrestlers will (and won’t) be announced for the game.
AEW Fight Forever Roster – Currently Confirmed Wrestlers
With no AEW Fight Forever release date known as yet, it’s not unreasonable to posit that the AEW Fight Forever roster will continue to increase in size over time until the release of the game. The AEW Fight Forever Roster Is Shaping Up To Be Very Strange
Even just a cursory look at the AEW Fight Forever roster reveals a rather odd line-up of wrestling superstars indeed. For a start, the fact that the notoriously outspoken CM Punk is both on the roster and front and centre on the cover artwork for AEW Fight Forever is perplexing, not least because the mercurial superstar got into a very public (and potentially litigious) incident with senior AEW personnel which will could result in his removal from the company roster in the near-term.
In addition to CM Punk, another baffling inclusion on the AEW Fight Forever roster is none other than Cody Rhodes. One of the original crew that debuted alongside All-Elite Wrestling when the promotion came into being at the start of 2019, Cody Rhodes made the leap to AEW’s chief competitor, WWE, in March 2022. Presumably, the reason for this is that the AEW Fight Forever roster has been set in stone for months and as is the case with the similar WWE 2K games, changes to that roster don’t come easy, if at all.
Oh, but it gets better too. Arguably one of the best tag teams on the planet and easily the best tag team on the AEW roster, it was recently confirmed that both Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood of the FTR tag team would not be included as playable wrestlers on day one. Now, this is something of an odd one given that they were former AEW tag team champions and are the current AAA & ROH tag team champions, with both of those belts often defended on the AEW Rampage and Dynamite television programs. Though it seems like they will be included at a later date, you do have to wonder just which other fan-favourite wrestlers will be absent from the AEW Fight Forever roster.
What Wrestlers Could Be Included On The AEW Fight Forever Roster?
With just 21 wrestlers confirmed for the AEW Fight Forever roster on day one and the current AEW roster of signed superstars tipping the scales at well over 140, it’s certainly fair to suggest that there are a whole host of additional superstars that could and arguably should, make the cut. Some of the key wrestlers that are currently missing from the AEW Fight Forever roster but will almost certainly appear in the final game, but have yet to be confirmed, would include:

Will The AEW Fight Forever Roster Allow For Custom Created Wrestlers?
Of course no matter how good or bad the roster in a wrestling game turns out, the player is usually provided with enough creation and customisation tools to simply craft their own wrestling superstars in order to fill in whatever gaps exist. In AEW Fight Forever, not only can you create your own wrestler from scratch, fashioning their looks and tweaking every aspect of their moveset, but these created wrestlers can also feature in AEW Fight Forever’s career mode too. Here, by winning matches and completing special tasks, players can earn points which can then be used to improve the stats of their created wrestler, providing AEW Fight Forever with a neat progression driven hook in the process.
What AEW Fight Forever Roster DLC Wrestlers Will There Be?
With the late (and great) Owen Hart confirmed early on as a post release DLC wrestler and ROH/AAA champions FTR not arriving ‘at launch’, but suggesting that they will arrive later on, the notion that AEW Fight Forever will support officially released DLC wrestlers seems like a done deal to me. As to who those wrestlers are at this point, we have no real idea, but a safe bet would be any obvious wrestling megastars that aren’t at launch (see the list above), will likely make the cut later as DLC content.
