As far as point&click goes, Daedelic never disappoints. A New Beginning is no exception, it takes you on a wild journey through time and space to save humanity from impending ecological doom. It features beautiful hand-drawn scenery ranging from apocalyptic landscapes to tropical forests, which are accompanied by a stellar soundtrack. The story, although at times somewhat convoluted, remains very compelling and the characters are likeable and interesting (at least the playable ones). I've heard some complaints about the voice acting but all I can say is, as with any Daedelic game, it's best played in German. All in all, I really enjoyed this game
This game is a bit like a visual novel but you click a bit more then you would and there a few puzzles slapped into it to spice things up a bit. The storyline is a ok id say, it doesnt leave a lasting effect but that is a hard thing to do with a text based adventure. I like the art style that they used however its not as immersive as id like to think it could be. That being said if you like to read a lot and are a fan of visual novels overall then you might want to try this out, its a good game to get but maybe not at its full price.
Exactly as I said. There are so many artsy point and click adventures now that Telltale and, to a lesser extent, Deponia, have popularized the genre. Fortunately, this game justifies delving into an otherwise cumbersome market. Amazing art, a gripping story and excellent dialog. If you can even stand point and click gameplay, you'll thoroughly enjoy this.
The game by itself is very charming. It'll bring you to a new world where you will hear some charming music and you'll be able to see the great art style! It's a point and click, also the story is presented in a comic book called Pannels. The voices fits very well into the whole game. The game by itself tells the story of the earth's future destruction and the race to try and save it as scientists go back in time to try and find the solution. The puzzles are logical, and work well, with intuitive controls - although they can be a little too sensitive on where you're clicking (smaller objects can be a little fiddly). Although the game does feature a rather excellent object highlighting system. It has those elements of the sci-fi games in that P&C game.
First of all, the story! It's really great - immersive, environment-conscious, occasionally funny. It made me think about the future of our precious little Earth. I wouldn't say it's short either, you need around 8-10 hours to complete the game. The art is awesome, you don't need ubercool 3D graphics to make a game look gorgeous. The gameplay doesn't really offer anything new, but it's polished and works well. The voice acting is a bit sub-par, but it doesn't make the game worse. All in all this game reminded me of why I love classic point-and-click adventure games. Thumbs up, Daedalic!
