The first Assassins's Creed game is quite a chore to finish. The game isn't bad, per se, but it is highly repetitive and has a number of annoyances. This first AC game essentially has you repeat the same mission 8 times: go to location X, murder target Y, escape. This game may have been a pathfinder for the series, but there is just so little variety that it isn't fun to finish. Fortunately Ubisoft fixed most of the problems in this game when they released AC2, so go ahead and skip this game to play AC2 instead.
I still remember when they first announced this game and showed the hood mechanic (which came from first "build" of Splinter Cell: Conviction - after announcement of AC, it got dropped into development hell). I was pumped, because trailer gave the idea of great mix of stealth game and action adventure. And while it is action adventure and running and jumping is fun, there is sadly barely any stealth in this game. The biggest handicap of this game are "activities", which you must do to start the mission and because of that the game becomes repetitive quite fast. Also, Desmond parts are worthless and useless padding and the ending is one of the worst offenders in gaming. While graphics are nice and soundtrack amazing (it got composed by excellent Jesper Kyd, of Hitman series fame), repetitiveness kills this game. If you want to know how franchise started, then pick it up on sale, but thankfully it is not mandatory to play it, because Assassin's Creed 2 does everything better and fills you in on everything.
Great story, set in the interesting and active world of the crusades. The actual historical world is made so good, that combined with the fun parkour and the awesome fight mechanics is making the world of Assassin's Creed really interesting.Adding the visuals and sound effects to all this, makes the game fun and really good. the games story, atmosphere, missions, characters, voice acting, etc. are all incredible. Lacks side missions and not that much to do in the world, camera problems, repeating same missions all the time and isn't that difficult.Still the game is true classic on it's own and starts a great series of games.
The first Assassin's Creed game, the game that launched the popular franchise that let's you play as an assassin fighting against the Templars. And guess what? The Assassin's are actually the good guys pretty much. A story filled with a surprising, yet fun story with so many different ways to play, though it is best to be careful and stealthy. It can be pretty challenging though, so don't go in thinking that it will be a cakewalk, because it isn't. It is worth the occasional headache though as this is probably one of the best Assassin's Creed games.
Assassin's Creed is a pretty fun game but it does get a little repetitive as a lot of the missions or quests end up being the same thing over and over again. The controls are confusing at first as there is two different profile modes. When you're in the low profile mode you'll gently push anyone in your walking path out of the way and attempt to blend in so the guards will notice you less. The high profile mode lets you do less acceptable things like climb buildings and allows you to run but you'll knock anyone in your way over so you'll be getting chased by guards often if they see you do these things. You may end up getting lost early on in the game even with a map. Graphically the game still looks good. The soundtrack and voice acting is well done. If you've ever played any of the later games in the series then you'll probably notice some of the game play improvements they've made with each new game like being able to swim, having less repetitive missions and more fun combat but don't let that stop you from playing this game for the story because the Altair story is one of the best in the entire series.
