Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an RPG inspired by the classic console greats, featuring deep dungeon diving, turn-based combat presented in a classic JRPG format, and a rich story driven by exploration of the world.
The best-selling comic book Battle Chasers was first released in the late 90s and quickly generated a passionate cult following.

Mechanically, Battle Chasers has the influence from late 90s Final Fantasy and its ilk is clear, though with enough surprises and new ideas to let it sidestep a lot of retro JRPG problems. Random battles are thankfully absent, with enemy encounters taking place at clearly-marked nodes on the overworld map. Enemy groups in dungeons are represented by a character model that moves around and can be avoided if desired. You can't really bypass combat entirely, but it's rare to be surprised by a foe you're not expecting. And defeated encounters disappear from the environment, so you won't be stuck in an endless stream of combats when you're trying to solve a puzzle. The only thing I have a problem with in this game, is the world map, I would like to see where I am. Battle Chasers: Nightwar combat and activity-dense world scratch the JRPG itch, for a while, pitty the game is not longer. Its attractive dungeons and outdoor regions are fun to get lost in, and there are just enough hidden treasures to claim to make exploration rewarding in a more than visual capacity. I'd be very pleased to see more turn-based indie RPGs along the same lines as Nightwar in the future - and the ending heavily suggests this won't be the last we see of this universe in RPG form. i would give this game a 9.5 out of 10
Joe Madureira is finally back! After dropping Battle Chasers after 10 issues (if you count #0), venture into the big world of Marvel and being creative director on Darksiders games, he's back to the franchise after 16 year hiatus. Nightwar is more or less a follow-up to what comic books had, but you are not required to know about them in any way, shape or form, because the game introduces itself pretty nicely. Plot may be not something to write hope about (actually, at times it might be considered complete dud), but this one is all about great art direction and good old classic turn-based RPG. Graphics are really nice, but where it really shines are the amazing cutscenes and that's actually meat of the game. As for gameplay itself, there is not much to say, because it doesn't try to do anything new, but you don't try to fix something that isn't broken and sometimes it is good to do something safe but working, then risk and make the game itself a chore. Boss battles are really intense, though, although shame backgrounds are pretty meh. Overall pretty solid game and I hope we will see more, although with better writing and maybe bigger budget, so there could be more variety in environments. If I would have to score it, I would give it 7.5/10. If you have nothing to play, then you won't regret this one, but if you have major backlog, you're better off waiting for a sale.
Battle Chasers is a role playing game inspired by famous classic consoles! this game has brought the adventure in the deeps of the dungeons and turn-based fights in the style of the Japanese role-playing (JRPG) genre, while a strong and good story in this adventure make it very exciting! the isometric graphic and beautiful while simple in an exciting gameplay with a deep story is what makes role-playing games among other games to have a special place! no doubt this game, with these elements, creates an extraordinary experience for players. This beautiful game implements a classic turn-based combat system While the game with Mana's designed system and explosive combat have become a completely unique experience, this game is really beautiful, perhaps we can't use beauty for the word "dungeon" itself, but the dungeons in the game with traps, puzzles and secrets have a unique beauty. You explore a world with hidden dungeons and secrets. While enormous and unique bosses are waiting for you, during the adventure, by accident your friends and enemies change the environment so you don't feel loneliness or tired in this game! The dungeons of this game have an action atmosphere full of traps, puzzles and secrets, each of which requires special skills from the player. you must have all focus on your ability to stay alive! you can choose your team by selecting three adventure heroes among 6 heroes of the game, while each hero has his or her own abilities and specialty! Get drowned in the craft system and combine diverse resources and create amazing items. i can describe this game just in one word: "beautiful"!
