"Far Cry 3 is important for the same reason as Far Cry 2. It's a shooter that considers shooters thoughtfully, both in the way they're designed and the way we play them, and then asks us to do the same." - IGN.com
"All of it is entertaining, and it gives you a sense that the island is little more than your plaything- a feeling that's only emphasized as your skills increase and you become a badass cross between Turok and Rambo. It's for that reason that Far Cry 3 comes across as a fresh experience and ranks up there as one of the best shooters of 2012." - worthplaying.com

The series was getting stale and then FC3 came to be. It had everything you needed, drama, action, humor, and Psychedelics. Great mechanics, solid story and fluid visuals.
Far Cry 3 is the next Far Cry of the series and took what made previous Far Cry games bad (Good bye Malaria!), improved and develop an amazing and almost perfect Far Cry game for everyone. With an open, beautiful and dangerous world, you're trapped in an island with crazy mercenaries that knows the definition of insanity. You must help the locals to get rid of the mercenaries, rescue your friends, avenge your brother, and get back home in one piece. Your survival is at risk. Recommended.
Pretty good open world FPS. While lots of game mechanics are pretty much the usual open world game stuff, what really adds to the experience is the characters, or should I say THE character: Vaas, the villain. He basically steals the show, it's worth playing this game even alone for his monologues.
Far Cry 3 is in my opinion the best FPS ever. In this game we have everything we need to have a good fun. The plot is really great and it makes you want to play more and more. Missions are varried, every has different mood - some are really funny, another one's are serious or sad. It makes you can't feel bored. Sound and visual setting are really great. The island is full of animals, plants and other beautiful stuff. The mechanics of the gameplay is nice, you can play quiet with for example bow or like Rambo with heavy guns. I recommend this game to every FPS's fan.
After ending of the storyline, using all the weapons and taking over all the transmission towers I am certain this game is a gem. The graphics, climate and game mechanics are indescribable! Various missions and side missions, hunting and killing on the commission makes this game simply amazing. Modifications of the weapon, elimination, and "development tree" in the physical form of the tattoo are simply amazing. Classic and must have to play.
