Good continuation to the story.

The After Years is one of the few sequels that square decided to release to their major series and to be honest I'm very glad they decided to do that as all in all this is a very solid game that expands on the story that happened in the original Final Fantasy IV. Apart from new bond abilities the gameplay stayed the same and personally I'm happy about it because I really like the simplicity of this title. Very good classic jRPG!

What FFX-2 Should Have Been

Sequels are rare in Final Fantasy games. There's the terrible Final Fantasy X 2, and there's the far better and more worthy of your time Final Fantasy 4 The After Years. While not as good as Final Fantasy 4, TAY is more than worth your time and money. You primarily play as the side characters and offspring of characters from Final Fantasy 4, but also get to play as the main characters. The game is divided into a multitude of episodes, or stories. Each character has their own playable story that takes anywhere from 2-5 hours to complete. The last chapters are a combination when your characters are all together and you play through the end game. The individual stories feel random, but they are all loosely connected to one another. The story gets better when the characters are all together, but never excels to the quality of FF4. The boss isn't as memorable either. Every story has a multitude of secrets and missable items, so there's some replay value to be had. You will also want to level up your characters a bit because the end game chapters use the saves from each characters individual story, so whatever level they were when you last saved is where they will be when you reach the endgame. Overall the games takes about 30-40 hours to complete. While it's not a perfect game, it's an absolute masterpiece when compared to the pathetic FFX2. Unlike that sequel, this one is a definite recommend.

Fun FFIV Addition

The stories and tales are very well put together. I am a little disappointed that they didn't add voice acting like they have in the remake of FFIV. I would give this game a go because the nostalgia factor and because Ceodore needs screen time to show how truly he shines in his father's footsteps. I would buy this on sale, but wouldn't give it a 15 dollar value, around 7.50 is perfect.

Worth trying !!

I tried this game recently and was happy that it was worth trying. If you are a RPG fan then you must give it a try.The overall story mode is awesome !! Story character choosing and deciding is great too. If you want to go back to golbez, lunar and rest of final fantasy world..then this game is surely yours..the main thing is you can choose you own hero and decide your fate by the choices you make and it is worth trying :)

Ok sequel to FFIV

FFIV is a fantastic and classic JRPG for which Square-Enix for some reason decided to create a sequel to, and surprisingly it's not terrible. I've played this previously on Wii where it's done in the classic 16-bit style which frankly I much prefer over this 3D. There is a lot of same from FFIV, the world is basically the same and number of actually new places isn't that high. What does make this really interesting is the story which I found intriguing and something I wanted to know about more. The mysterious villain especially. For the price this is not a bad little sequel to one of the big classics of JRPG. It doesn't bring anything actually new to the formula but it doesn't have to
