I never played the original so I can't compare this remake to it. However, I think this game was just okay. The graphics were not very good, but they weren't bad. The camera is zoomed out a bit much and the game didn't feel very detailed. It is a very dark game with a lot of blur. Some levels feel way too long, others are too fast. It's a very unevenly paced game. The vehicle segments are horrible and control even worse. The side scrolling segments are decent, but nothing to write home about. The story I don't even remember. The controls are fine but take some getting used to. The game doesn't have any glitches and never crashed, so it's very stable in that respect. It feels unfinished though. The game literally ends after you kill the final boss. It's very abrupt and just feels like the game is incomplete. There's a lot of secrets but nothing to unlock as far as I remember so it's not worth exploring much more than you have to. Overall, it's not a bad game because I've played many that are far worse, but it's hard to recommend this game to anyone because of how average it is. There's nothing really amazing that happens in this game that you would want to tell others about to get them hyped. If you liked the original game, it's worth playing. Otherwise, wait for a sale if you have even the slightest interest in this game.
Wow, 40? Don't let the other review scare you off. This is a remake, it just actually makes sense this time around. A bit easier than the original due to the control timing not being as much of an issue as we all remember old console games revolved around. DRM is inevitable in today's world, so deal with it or stop playing video games. The game is short but sweet. I would give it an 80, but have to go full bore since the other reviewer was absolutely trolling.
It's a 're-imagined' of an almost two decades old game with the same name which can be considered as cult classic. That being said, aside from the graphical upgrade, the game doesn't have a single redeeming feature that makes it special and superior from the original. The controls are awkward, the audio and the voice acting are terrible and you have to deal with Uplay to boot. I know the majority of PC gamers are against using it. Anyway, this game is certainly not worth your time. Seek the original version instead.
