For those who don't know, this is the prequel of the first game that shows you how and when things started. If you played the first Painkiller game, you can see some similarities, and by that I mean... that old school gameplay style. From the shooting til the aesthetic of the game. Anyways, NecroVision: Lost Company offers campaign & multiplayer. The multiplayer is dead because of GameSpy (if I remember well), so, do not have high hopes for that. About the campaign now, it took me almost 6 hours to finish it, but without doing any of the challenges/arenas (which help you also unlock weapons to equip by default in every stage). Pretty challenging campaign, with a lot of solid moments and plenty of shootings. Various enemies appear, and if you try to kill them using close combat tactics, it feels great. Something to add here... secrets throughout each stage to look for which lets you have certain abilities if found! The story is outstanding, I really liked the how they combined it with Lost Company. If you get your hands on one of these games, you MUST play the other one as well. Lost Company is delivering a nice FPS experience with a bunch of scary moments here and there. I can't really compare it with the first game, but you definitely need to start from the first one (and it offers more gameplay also), You should try this game out though, without a doubt.
NecroVisioN Lost Company is an FPS game set in World War 1 but adds a lot of monsters and undead to fight, the game serves as a prequel to the events of the original NecroVisioN with you playing as one of that game's antagonists. I feel like this one is an improvement on the first with a better opening, it gives you a better variety of guns more quickly, it seems to have less glitches, and it has a much less annoying main character. The actual shooting still isn't very satisfying though and the enemies get boring to fight, even with the game's melee, combo, and slow motion system. It's basically a B movie in video game form but it just isn't able to remain interesting all the time.
In my time I have played a fair amount of games that would fit into the first persons hooter genre and category, ranging from the likes of Crysis to Battlefield 3 and metroid and I can safely say that this game ranks with the top one in that list. Everything in this game is very well designed and pulled off with immaculate perfection and attention to detail. The graphics are stellar and the sound design is equally as good if not better, with the guns sounding punchy and realistic. The campaign is very fun and provides a great introduction to the game. The real core of the game is the multiplayer though which is awesome too! Get this game!
