Yes, that's right people, hi is BACK! HK-47 is back in all of his demented, murderous glory. So even though the story and game play earn the game 5 stars, HK-47 cements the rating as he is the best thing to happen to Star Wars. Just waiting for him to get his own movie now.
If any game deserves a score of 10 on a scale of 10 then it's definitely Kotor and Kotor II. I highly recommend all fans of the universe created by George Lucas. What's interesting game recently got an update that adds achievements that at the time of the original release were not present in any game. The game is huge and the choices matter, give it a try, it is really amazing!
I'm not the biggest fan of Star Wars but you don't need to be to enjoy the Knights of the Old Republic games. The story is quite good but it does take awhile for you to really understand whats going on with it. This game has Steam Workshop which makes it easy to mod. You may ask yourself "Why is that important?" Its important because when the game was rushed for release there was a lot of content cut from the game and the Restored Content mod adds it back into the game and it also fixes a few bugs. The choices you make in the game will change how your party acts towards you and can lead to some interesting things happening. There are some areas of the game that feel incomplete and you may encounter a few minor bugs but I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Tied with the original KOTOR for greatest RPG. Just like the original, these are the games that got me hooked on RPGs. I had never played a single RPG before playing KOTOR and I never went back afterwards. With KOTOR 2 you can expect slightly improved graphics, new worlds to travel to, new companions (and some old), and a brand new story line. Sort of. The story line is actually very similar to the first KOTOR, but with it's own twist. What I love about the second game is the refined movement controls and combat characteristics. I find it much easier to fight in this second game compared to the first. I actually find it hard not to like this second game more than the original; I do like the story line more in the original, but the second game is just fantastic. There are so many more areas of each planet to explore. You can find some seriously awesome gear if you take the time to search everywhere. There are hidden gems all over the place. And of course there are new and improved force abilities as well. I still play the KOTOR games to this day. They're just too much fun. I hope some day that a KOTOR 3 will be released (something other than the Mass Effect series or an MMO like Star Wars: The Old Republic). If you liked the first game than I HIGHLY recommend playing the second game. If you haven't played either I would recommend you play the first KOTOR before starting this one. It's not necessary, story wise, but I think it'll be much more enjoyable to start from the beginning. There are common themes, characters and circumstances or events between the two games.
KotOR 1 was a great game, but KotOR 2 is legendary. Sure, it was incomplete and content was cut. However, the spirit and substance of this game is so much grander than its predecessor ever was. Everything we knew of Star Wars and the Force is turned upside down with this game. This is the first time we know the Force isn't so black and white. The Light Side and the Dark Side aren't so clearly defined. The difference between good and evil is blurred. Everybody is a victim. Everybody has a reason. Nobody leaves this experience unscathed. Besides having the greatest antagonist Star Wars has ever known and some of the greatest Sith Lords ever made, the gameplay is completely evolved and improved from the first game. Everything is better, and for the first time you really feel strong and powerful with the Force. There is even a master/apprentice system and you can teach your companions the way of the Force, whether Light or Dark. My only wish is that Obsidian would have done a KotOR 3, because this game was so amazing. Either way, this RPG has it an and then some. If you love BioWare games and love Star Wars, there is no reason for you not to play this iconic game.
