I love Age of Mythology. I really do. Ensemble Studios was an amazing gaming developer. I remember playing this game for hours on end growing up. It is probably my favorite RTS of all-time. But why did I give it a 75? Well.... This "Extended Edition" is pretty terribly optimized. The added graphical improvements look okay, but aren't needed. But the big negative to this whole experience is the lack of communication between the developers of this extended edition (not Ensemble, the original creators of the Age of Series and Mythology) and the consumers. They are really terrible at fixing bugs and the expansion they just released this year "Tale of the Dragon," is god-awful modded crap. Truly. But it's still Age of Mythology. It is still a great game that comes with it's Original expansion, The Titans, which was made the by the same studio that made the original game(Ensemble) and is great. If you have played a Age of Empires game before than you will be right at home. Only get this cheaper or you have nostalgia for it.
An old game brought to the new age, Mythology is one of the greatest games of its time, and still remains to be to this day. A worth while purchase for fans new and old of the Age of Empire series.
I really liked the story of age of mythology. You can choose different gods and accordingly have different bonuses and supernatural powers.Like all other games like age of empires, rise of nations you need to manage resources properly to gain victory. It takes. a lot of time to complete a stage. But the campaign mode and story is really good
Let me preface this review by mentioning that I LOVE the "Age of ____" series - Age of Empires 2 being my favourite. Age of Mythology is a game with some pretty awesome gameplay. It's definitely a game I'd recommend to anybody that enjoys RTS titles - I feel it embodies much of what makes AOE2 so great while adding a lot more visual representation of what's actually happening with regards to upgrades, different civilizations, etc. That being said, I don't necessarily believe that the additions made to the game in its "extended edition" warrant the price tag. The game is pretty much the same AoM you'll remember with regards to graphical fidelity, so that's really not much of a bonus. The Steamworks multiplayer is nice, but the lack of LAN play is rather frustrating (why is this missing? It makes playing on the same network so much nicer!). The mod loader is a pretty neat addition, admittedly.
While the HD edition of Age of Empires II actually adds things (not to mention "the Forgotten" DLC) this Age of Mythology HD edition is not worth the huge amount of money it costs. The game is pretty much the same Age of Mythology you may have been playing 10 years ago, initially it was even worse because of nasty bugs and such but now (after a year or so) almost everything have been fixed. Still I have to say that if you don't have the original 2002 game this is still worth buying (and probably it's a must have) because Age of Mythology is really a good game, with hours and hours of enjoyment awaiting for you.
