Borderlands 2 is widely known because of its silly humor and gazillion types of weapons. And those statements are true. In this game you have a nice blend of shooting and rpg, always upgrading your characters and making the numbers go up. It does have its nice share of dlcs, though, so getting the GOTY is not a bad idea because you'll get both extra classes that come from dlc and a lot of extra campaigns that, if you decide you want the best weapons the game can offer, you'll want to have. The slightly bigger price tag is totally justified. I recommend this game and I recommend you get the GOTY.
The game is a blast to play, every piece of DLC is well worth the price tag. The characters are memorable, maps are well constructed, gameplay is lovely, humor is a large part of the entertainment quality as with the original Borderlands game. The only gripe I have is the optimization. I run a system that far surpasses the minimum requirements (r9 280x, 6 core cpu), however, I regularly encounter large frame drops. After visiting several forums and extensive research, I have altered my settings (the biggest issue lies in Physx), but the drops still continue. From my experience with this title, you could have a pc less powerful than mine, but for one reason or another, it will run better. My advice is to buy the game, it's an unforgettable experience even if frame drops are a regular occurrence.
If you played the original Borderlands you'll probably already have an idea of what to expect: loot, explosions, and more loot. Borderlands 2 improves on this in every conceivable way, offering a bigger world, more quests, and more weaponry. Boldly-drawn characters are to be found in every corner of the world, no pun intended (I'm so sorry), their presence earning the game a sense of genuinely unhinged mayhem, something many games try to do and fail. Borderlands 2 deserves a lot of recognition for standing out among the crowd of bland, brown shooters and forging its own identity.
Borderlands 2 is quite similar for players who have played Borderlands 1. The game is really easy to understand and is great fun with many crazy weapons. You basically just wanna get all these crazy weapons that have crazy effects and go NUTS in the lands that border....something? The game is story driven with a good story writing. Very nice!
Pros: - Running around the world and exploring the planet of Pandora is fantastic. - Some of the most fun co-op gameplay ever created. Running around Pandora killing and looting until you find the ultimate weapon is a blast. -The creativity of guns in the game make you feel more empowered than any other game out there. -The fantastic humor will have you rolling on the floor. -Handsome Jack is one of the coolest video game villains of all time. Cons: -Playing alone without friends can get a little frustrating as there are so many enemies that being to over run you. -Technical issues -While the game is incredibly fun, the gameplay does not offer much variety and can get a little boring after a while.
