The core of the gameplay is not new, but it should not be forgotten that EW is an add-on package and the goal is to add new content in the overall framework of the game. Those who played the EU are familiar with the gameplay. The collective leadership of the Soldier in a strategy-oriented and simultaneously-oriented strategy is to manage resources and defend them against alien attacks, but there are a lot of things in the EW, which make it much different from the previous one. EW has added over 40 new maps with widespread settings. There are plenty of personalization options available to the audience to provide a variety of strengths and classes that make the gameplay a duplicate mode. But the most important part of the game, Meld, is the ability to purchase Genetic and Cybernetics and upgrade them.
As my first entry into the series, XCOM is a challenge that will keep you on your toes to carefully consider the next step. In Enemy Unknown, every person on your team is a valuable asset and the fine line between life and death is very close. Despite failing and getting wrecked, this is a game that I would put forward for others to try.
X-COM: Enemy Unknown is a fun but very punishing game. The combat is turn based and is pretty random. For example the game will say your soldier has a "90% chance to hit" but it'll be more like 5%. The AI has an insane hit chance and will kill your soldiers often if you aren't careful. There is a lot of customization options for your soldiers which will make you more attached to them and it'll upset you when they eventually do get hit. The graphics aren't that impressive and neither is the story but don't let that stop you from enjoying this game. Overall this is a great strategy game and I would recommend it to anyone.
It updates the original formula to the modern age with gusto. Even without the nostalgia factor, however, this game stands up on its own. It's a small-scale turn based strategy game with a punishingly difficult campaign. It looks incredible, and runs reasonable well - a few frame-rate dips here and there, but nothing major. The ai is very good in this game, and you could even forget at times that there isn't a human opponent on the other side wrecking your entire squad. Overall this game is easy to recommend.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is my first foray into the world of XCOM, and it was a glorious one. Over the course of 100's of hours, this has easily become one of my all time favourite games despite the many bugs and glitches. Well worth the price and make sure to pick up enemy within as well, as it introduces a ton of new features as well as fix many of the bugs.
