Game description

“A Land Fit For Heroes can get quite racy in sections. We’re talking sweaty, nasty sex, brutal slayings and even the occasional Fifty Shades-style masochism. If you’re a bit squeamish then you might want to pass, but Game Of Thrones fans will probably enjoy this gritty, adult take on fantasy.” - recombu

“The creators of the game did not hesitate for a second to show the harshness as well as the cruel and bloody reality that dominated the middle ages.” - 7.5 – Tallon4

Based on Richard Morgan’s trilogy of dark fantasy novels, A Land Fit For Heroes is the new story-based RPG telling the story of three unlikely heroes with three interlocking storylines. Kirellin of House Caith is a skilled war veteran, a man with a death wish who suffers the mental trauma from years of combat, Calnar is a young Majak warrior, repeatedly abused by his father during his childhood, he channels his inner rage as one of the fiercest fighters in bloody combat. Ilaria is an accomplished thief with a tortured past filled with violence and personal anguish. Each of their paths will cross in this adventure where they are tested to the extreme – but wherein the reader decides upon their fates.

Children go missing in the marshes. Ancient spirits awaken. Powerful machine-demons manipulate the fate of mankind. But all of this is just a game for even darker forces. In the first of its kind, bestselling bestselling author Richard Morgan brings his trilogy of novels to life as a three-player RPG set in the world of Land Fit For Heroes.

Three intertwined stories, three dark characters - one ending. A unique story-driven RPG with tactical, grid-based combat element.

Play in Multi-player or Single-player mode, controlling a single character and cooperating with the other two, or controlling all three at the same time. Cooperate across devices: play on mobile or PC.

Enjoy the dark and gritty narrative about personal horror. It’s time to a tell a different story. A mature story. This is a story-driven RPG unlike any other.

Fight turn- and grid-based tactical combats against the dwenda. Enjoy old-fashioned dice rolling and moving figures. Use rune-based mosaic magic to defeat your enemies.

Cruel, dark story.

This is a great Story-driven game, with a capital S. The characterization is deep, the story is well worth to read. It?s like a gory, dark, cruel fantasy book with all the naked realities of this gritty genre. The protagonists are all seriously damaged, thanks to war, childhood abuses, the cruelties of the street. The storyline is disturbing sometimes, it really gets under your skin and you end up grinding your teeth and wanting revenge.

Good choose your own adventure game with some grammar errors and bugs

A Land Fit For Heroes is a choose your own adventure style story with battles that is based on novels by Richard Morgan, video game players might know him from writing Syndicate (the FPS remake) and Crysis 2 and comic fans for some Marvel Black Widow stories, he also worked with the developers to create this game's story. The game is split up between four chapters, the first three has you playing as one of the game's three characters each and the final brings all the characters together. The writing is good and the plot flows well and there are some good choices to make, although there were frequent spelling and grammar errors, they have released a bugfix since I played but I'm not sure if that included fixes for the text. Graphics are simple, mostly text with some occasional illustrations, the game has a battle system that takes place on a grid with characters represented by stand up cards. Battles rely on your character's skills and the luck of the dice, and by the items that you have and feats you have learned. They are simple and never look impressive but they work well. The music starts off good but starts to become very repetitive. Your abilities can also influence how you do in story events and luck points can be spent to prevent some bad things from happening. It's not as well done or as polished as the Sorcery series but this is an enjoyable game and they seem to be working on a continuation of the story. There were occasional bugs when I played, there has since been a patch but the developer wasn't very detailed in what it fixed.
