What am I playing...

Alpha Black Zero is a futuristic game stuck in the past. Although it came out in 2004, even for then the graphics were terrible. The terraforming in the levels are atrocious, with hills looking like gooey dirt monsters, and the AI is ridiculously stupid. Despite it taking place in the future, all the tech in the game is old, which doesn't make much sense. Even if you're a fan of early-3D shooters, this is not one you're going to want to pick up any time soon.

Alpha Black Zero - review

It is a third-person action shooter, who despite being strongly influenced Offering guests a futuristic offered by the complicated plot of the game, very reminiscent of a well-known title like Rainbow Six. Core of the gameplay is the coordination team here managed through a practical and simple interface that contains a single bar in the characteristics of the team members with regard to their health status and the action that at the time they are running , and through which it is also possible to impart them, via radio, orders and instructions. Each mission is preceded by an extensive briefing that joined the movies are a truly remarkable background capable of giving the game a thick and complex history. Once on the battlefield targets, although based on the complex structure of the story, the player always lead back to the same script. This is largely targets designed to flush out opponents, and to eliminate any possibility of resistance and counterattack that almost always corresponds to the total elimination of enemies. Unfortunately the AI does not shine for innovation and apparatus graph does not show particular signs of demerit, but remains modest.

An average shooter

Alpha Black Zero is a third person shooter with a futuristic setting. In the game you command a group of soldier and you can switch between them, leaving the movement of the others to the IA. The game is linear and quite repetitive, because your only goal is to advance in each level and kill all the enemies. There aren't other objectives or secondary missions. The graphic and the locations of the game are quite good and also the IA of the enemy and of our companion works well. Alpha Black Zero isn't a masterpiece, but if you are a fan of third person shooters you will enjoy it

Could have been a solid shooter, but the AI needs major help

I will admit, most of the levels in Alpha Black Zero are fairly good sized and nice to explore, but the enemies you'll come across, and the guys who are supposed to help you complete your objectives, often have a nasty case of The Stupids. Weapons are fairly nice looking for a game set in the future, but yet retain essential qualities that allow the gamer to identify them with their current counterparts. Shooting is nice, but you'll usually be the leader in most battles, as the AI seems to need help in when to start thinking tactically. Admittedly, walking up to the enemy to let them know they should try to kill you is, unfortunately, something that rears its head more than once. Sounds are good, with the weapons all sounding different, and being able to recognize different squad members by listening to the sounds of their weapons being fired. Identifying your troops by any other means is pretty impossible though, as everybody is wearing a Halo-esque combat suit - the suit itself is quite nice, though.

Not worth playing

Compared to the third person shooter games of today, this game is terrible. The graphics are terrible compared to the games that came out the time this game game out (in 2004). There is a lack of colour and lack of variation in this game. The AIs are not very intelligent. Your AI teammates can't really do much against your enemies and the AI enemies seem to miss most of the time. Even though the game takes place in the future (2366) the weapons do not seem futuristic. The levels are also very long and repetitive. I definitely would not recommend this game.
