Game description

Requires Anno 2205 (base game) to use this DLC

Please note this DLC is part of Anno 2205™: Season Pass

Anno 2205: Orbit allows you to conquer space by building, expanding and managing your own modular space station.

Go even further in expanding your conquest and manage Nexus, a powerful AI controlling the newly accessible space station modules.

Space Travellers
The new Orbit sector needs astronauts in order to build and populate a huge space station. Players have to place the new Orbital Institutes in their cities, as well as in the Arctic and Moon sectors to train their inhabitants so they are ready for space. The three types of astronauts, Biologists, Physicists and Engineers are important for the individual main focuses of the different space station areas.

Modular Space Expansion
When entering the new Orbit sector, players will only have the station’s main module at hand. The more they progress; up to 12 different module types can be unlocked. Each module has different requirements and fulfils different needs. Build laboratories like the Agriculture Chambers and support them with maintenance modules such as the Artificial G-Lab. The possibilities of building the space station are numerous and challenging and players must once again show their city-planner - or better - space-planner skills.

Master the Nexus
The bigger the space station gets, the more Expertise is gained, which can be used in the Nexus to unlock new bonus effects for all other regions in the game. There are around 75 bonus effects to be explored, and players can’t use all of them at the same time. Thus, finding the best combination is crucial in order to be a successful city-planner.

Reviews for Anno 2205 Orbit DLC

Well worth a look if your into city builders like city skylines and the SimCity franchise.

Good mechanics and expansion options with the DLC and they all add up to a good fun long lasting user experience that has had me hooked since i got the game. The Season Pass has been paying for itself with all of the content patches. Anno 2205 is great, and just keeps getting better. This most recent addition adds a robust technology tree with game-changing affects. Strap in and let's light this candle!

This is the DLC that really completes 2205

This is the DLC that really completes 2205 for me. If you didn't like the game before Orbit, you still won't like it after. If you enjoyed 2205 before Orbit, even if you didn't play a ton, I would reccomend this to you. Orbit adds a new "sector" to the game, the orbital station. Accessing the station requires no credits or a certain corperation level. Instead, you need to aquire a new type of scientist from the three base sectors, trained from your population at a new (large) building. Aquiring all three scientist types requires all three types of sectors. This building reuires only operators to build, but be prepared to invest a large amount of credits. Once you have access to the station, the real meat of the dlc begins. Orbit adds a technology tree with branches in each industry area. By adding modules to your station and shipping certain items up, you can research these technologies. Each technology adds a large effect to your corperation, including options such as increased yields, decreased requirements, mines producting multiple types of good, and items requiring different componets to produce. At the end of the tech trees are items such as android workers and orbital warehouses. There are 75 technologies to research in total, with 11 for each industry and 20 technologies to upgrade your station. Building the station is also part of the challenge. Functioning on a grid, the space station is built out of supports and modules. Modules are mounted on the supports to provide effects (see the screenshots, it makes more sense these). Similar to how service builds operate on the surface, modules on the space station have an effect that decreases over distance. However, the effect of modules is also reduced if the effect passes through another module. Designing your station becomes increasingly difficult as you try to route all the different modules to your research labs.
