Originally written as a novella in the late 1980’s, the Heroic Legend of Arslan has been adapted to manga and anime numerous times, with the most prominent being the 2013 release of a manga series by famed illustrator Hiromu Arakawa (the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist). It tells the story of the young crown prince of Pars, Arslan, as he is forced out of his kingdom when his father, the king, is betrayed and defeated and his domain conquered. Arslan and his few companions must re-assemble an army and fight against overwhelming odds to regain his throne and liberate his kingdom. Through his exploits he reaches emotional maturity, while the series also tackles underlying issues of slavery, religious fanaticism, betrayal, and humanity.
The game adaptation of this magnificent story seamlessly blends the fast paced tactical action gameplay indicative of the Warriors franchise with a stunningly engaging narrative. Using cell-shaded graphics and basing all character design on the anime series Arslan: The Warriors of Legend delivers a gaming experience designed to fully immerse the player into Arslan’s universe!

Arslan: The Warriors of Legend is one of those games that you will get very little enjoyment out of unless you are familiar with the source material, and I wasn’t aware there was source material for the longest of times. Arslan: The Warriors of Legend is a Warriors game that uses an anime aesthetic. The art-style is ok but the way the graphics captures it is superb. The sound on the other hand is what you expect from a Warriors game, and there is no English voice acting. If you hear somebody talking during the middle of the fight, you are going to have to either pause what you are doing (no not the game) and actually read the subtitles and get hit several times, or you are going to become a master of multi-tasking. Arslan: The Warriors of Legend brings little to the Warriors franchise; there are your standard combos, special attacks, grinding, and so on. The only thing new is a rush move where you gather your allies and make them charge with you from point A to point B. It is an interesting but ultimately underutilized idea. If you aren’t aware of what Arslan is you might want to avoid this game. Don’t even think about using it as a way of getting introduced to the Arslan franchise; instead watch the anime and then consider if you are willing to play a game that is a summary of what you just saw.
Ever heard or played Dynasty Warrior games? Do you watch anime? If you do, you will have double the fun! We don't have many games like that on PC - where you as Hero defeat over9000 enemies with few attacks. Doesn't sound fun? But it's really fun! And what's more, since we know how Koei ported previous of their games on PC: 60fps, graphics looks really nice and you can play on really high resolution! Maybe the campaign isn't really long but it's really well written. Also, "Musou" games have really much replayability so don't fear that you will get bored after day or two spending only on playing Arslan: The Warriors of Legend. Sure, maybe it's a little bit too expensive but well... that's AAA title, and a really good one. Like I mentioned in being: if you ever played and loved Dynasty Warrior games, and maybe you have watched anime titled same as this game - you will have tons of fun, worth even full price.
