Play as Adewale, an ex-slave turned Assassin fighting for freedom with the help of his own Pirate crew. Born a slave, Adewale found freedom as a pirate aboard Edward Kenway’s ship, the Jackdaw.
15 years later, Adewale has become a trained Assassin who finds himself shipwrecked in Saint-Domingue without weapons or crew. He now has to acquire a ship and gather his own crew to free the slaves and avenge them. Over 3 hours of new single-player gameplay!
If you want to take an adventure along with a new hero and of course in a smaller world compared to the main game, and see the era of slavery closely, I would suggest you to experience Freedom Cry. The DLC will entertain you for about 6 hours, but the presence of a new hero named Adewale with a strong and tough personality, along with its engaging gameplay can fill your leisure times really good.
Freedom Cry is a DLC with the strong anti-slavery message. In this DLC you are taking the role of Adewale, this lets you see the game from a whole new perspective, especially after you were playing as a pirate who did everything for the money. Now we have a chance to stand on the other side of this story. Really great and well thought out DLC, especially when you consider it was made by Ubisoft.
The game is very considered. All the nine sequences (missions) are very long , differential and enjoyable. Adewale , who is the main protagonist in Freedom Cry is character who induces real emotions and makes the story even more interesting and absorbing. In conclusion I'd like to recommend this DLC to everyone who has already finished the base game before and is still craving the Caribbean adventure.
I normally do not go into DLC's that much as on a general basis, they are just a money sink for the consumers however how do you add MORE content to a game that can already sink 50 hours of your time barely trying? Freedom cry puts you in the shoes of Adewale, a freed slave who turns to the creed of the Assassin fighting for his freedom, similarly to Kenway, with his own crew of pirates. Freedom Cry applies a few changes to the core game mechanic of progression. Your upgrades and mission unlocks are now correlated to the number of slaves Adéwalé has liberated. The gameplay is nothing new to the base game however the struggles and hardship of this 3 hour campaign is well worth the price tag currently on GMG. A very very recommended purchase for anyone who loved Black Flag.
