Game description

Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is a 2D African Fantasy Action-RPG which seeks to innovate in this genre. The dynamic gameplay partly inspired by the old school ‘Tales of’ series, focuses on 2D real-time combat sequences while the narration and its environment both draw deeply from African culture, myths and lores.

Aurion offers hand-drawn and animated African-style graphics that tell a deep storyline that unfolds over more than 20 hours of action-packed gameplay, heavy with combat and combos.

Aurion is never-before-seen 2D action RPG to PC with a strong interface and a bevy of beautifully hand-drawn characters and animation.

  • Aurion's gameplay combines African legends and lore with fast-paced real-time combat.

  • Gather your legacy, unlock devastating strikes to combo with, and mix aurions to create new ones.

  • Confront enemies as Enzo, with Erine’s assistance and make the best out of the couple in combat.

  • Powerful duels with fascinating and immersive dialogues.

  • Join a spiritual quest that takes our heroes to journey across a wonderful world of African fantasy.

It should have been a perfect day for Enzo Kori-Odan, Prince of Zama. He was scheduled to marry his lifelong love Erine Evou and be crowned the new King. Little did he know that Ngarba Evou, his new brother-in-law, plotted to overthrow him. Through thrillingly executed, combo-heavy action sequences, Erine and Enzo will redefine their bond, rescue the land from its villains, and restore their legacy. Luckily, Enzo can call on the Aurion, a powerful collective energy channelled from past ancestors that can unlock devastating fighting abilities and combos to help him beat his foes.

Enzo is the only remaining heir of the Kori-Odan family, which ruled over the city of Zama for generations. Enzo inherited his battle gears from former Zama’s kings. He can modify its gear’s properties by drawing on ancestral energy, the Aurion, which can also be used to put Enzo into a fierce Aurionic state, allowing him to take on even the deadliest of foes. Luckily for Enzo, his spear, Urithi, also has a power of its own. It is strong and equipped with its own special Aurionite, which is linked to the Legacy of the Kori-Odan.

Erine is the young spouse of Enzo Kori-Odan, and fights alongside him in his quest to restore his legacy. Erine is a support character, she can heal her husband and launch special attack to combo with. Her primary piece of equipment is called "Moyoni Ukuta" which means "The wall of the heart". It is an Aurionic shield that can absorb physical AND magical damage.

Although Erine cannot enter an Aurionic state, she is equipped with a chest harness and a loin cloth with interchangeable Aurionites. She can mix the Aurionites to modify her abilities

There are various enemies and bosses in Aurion. Enzo and Erine will face them throughout the adventure, more powerful and skilled as the couple advance in their quest.

Auriona is a rich and dynamic planet made of six continents. The world’s population regroups six main ethnic groups which are connected by an exciting common history line. Travel around to discover the wealth of the Kiro’o Tales throughout many side quests.

The Aurion is at the same time a mystery and an evidence in Auriona. The Aurion is based on the energetic waves of the world's memory, in other words it channels the energy of the past. With the Aurion, Enzo and other Aurionic people can enter aurionic states to unlock thier fighting potential together with devastating abilities related to ancestors. Aurionites are objects in which there is the Aurion in the likes of Urithi, Enzo's spear. They allow their possessors to boost their abilities. Originally, the Aurionites constitute rich and complex energy sources used mainly for domestic purposes. But the situation on Auriona saw the Aurion and its Aurionites being used as military weapons. Due to the Aurionites, non-Aurionics people can now build their capacities, and even use the power of the elements.

Unexpectedly great

Very different from the norm. You can tell a lot of heart went into making this game. The game itself is beautiful and the story is engaging. The combat has a mix of jrpg and arpg elements and it flows nicely. There are a lot of half-a**ed indie games out there around thesame price as this, so if you're going to spend money of something new; then invest in something complete. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Wow! This game was pretty good!

I very much enjoyed the storyline, the artwork and the African theme throughout the game. The story was so good!! It was good to see a bit more variety and complexity, compared to some things I've been seeing recently. I wouldn't classify it as an RPG though, probably more of a side-scrolling brawler. However, the combat was, again, quite different to what I was used to, but becoming easier when learning what the different combos and techniques do. However, there are a few improvements to be made, I feel: - The sound becomes quite repetitive, so an expanded soundtrack would have been nice - The keyboard controls are pretty bad, but worked fine on a controller - Loading screens everywhere - Placing the tutorials during boss battles was off-putting, causing me to simply ignore some moves for most of the game - The animations are fairly standard (but if they were flashier, they would interfere with the gameplay) I recommend this for anyone looking for something different. :)

Original and fun

Developped by African developper Kiro'o Games, Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is an Action-RPG with a setting that is quite unique. You are Prince Enzo and your quest is to free the land from your evil brother-in-law who just stole the throne of the Kori-Odan. What's special in this story is that it's heavily inspired by African Folklore. Aurion's world a charming, fascinating and beautiful. Beautiful it is indeed, thanks to its gorgeous 2D graphics but it's not a quiet and contemplative game. Aurion is an Action-RPG very much like the oldest entries of the "Tales of" franchise from Namco Bandai. The battles are set in real-time with combos, flashy moves and spells. It's fast-paced and very fun. Aurion : Legacy of the Kori-Odan is a cool game but, alas, like most good things in this world it is too short. But if you're not bothered by its short length, Aurion is a must have.

Anime Africa

Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is a unique little title that was successfully kickstarted and developed by a team in Africa. It delivers on what it promised, at least for the most part. Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan takes a lot of inspiration from traditional African art and stories, giving it a world that is very different from what most gamers are used to. However, it is all uses an almost anime aesthetic and looks like something an African team of animators would make if they tried to make their own anime cartoon. This is not a bad thing, but it is a bit distracting. The story, while not the most unique story every, takes enough from African myths and folklore to give it a fresh take on the story. As for the combat, it is essentially what would happen if you made a 2D Avatar: The Last Airbender or Avatar: The Legend of Korra game and gave it a combat system that was halfway between the fast-paced action of Dust: An Elysian Tail and the flashy special moves of Tales games. Sadly, the game lacks polish. Translation mistakes, less than fluid animations, and various other missteps make Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan less appealing than it should be. In the end, Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is a promising game that will likely entertain you despite its problems.
