A Complete Package

People talk about this game because of the art style sometimes, and always mention the absolutely unique narration. Those things are great for sure, but by now you should know that. The gameplay, however, deserves just as much praise. There is so many great little things. Being able to get bigger rewards by adding difficulty modifiers is a fantastic concept bottled in a fantastic method for this game. The ability to turn them on and off at will really encourages the system, too. Most of the time I played with one or two, just to make things interesting. Challenge rooms act as a way to help familiarize you with the ins and outs of a particular weapon, but since you get rewards for doing the puzzle you want to come back to get them. They're good rewards too. Each enemy type has a pattern, and it's great to see that this tradition is held up here. Seems like a lot of games recently have eschewed predictability for chaos, which, while creating more organic outcomes, also means you end up with cheap deaths and lucky breaks. it strips you of a sense of accomplishment when you have no idea how or why you succeeded this time. Here's a game that says "this enemy throws a ball. Bounce it back. This one throws spikes. Block them. This enemy comes up from the ground. Dodge and strike. This one pauses before dashing at you. This one retaliates. Now here is five different types of enemies. Divide and conquer." Really, it's a great game with great presentation.

Beautiful and unique experience

Bastion is a visually beautiful experience, that also comes with a great story (With decisions that you can make across the game) and a great controls with a variety of weapons with different style. You're the Kid, and after the Calamity, you're off to an adventure to fix the Bastion to its original state and many more. I, luckily got it as a gift, and as soon as I got it, I started to played immediately and was amaze. I'm pretty sure that everyone will enjoy this game. Recommended for everyone.

Nice little Zelda-like

It plays a bit like Zelda, but what differentiates it is the sound. There is a narrator that says things depending on what you're doing. For example, if you get knocked down by an enemy, he might say, "The Kid was knocked down, but he wasn't out yet." And the narrator has the best voice. And the music, goodness the music is one of the best. Transistor by the same developers also had great sound and music. It just seems to be a strength of the studio. The game was challenging enough for an old man who is bad at platformers, but definitely far from impossible. Even getting first prize in all the mini game challenges. I recommend you play this with a controller though.

Little man's every move is narrated

Bastion is a beautifully designed, fully narrated action rpg. Wherever you go, the world is being assembled right in font of your feet brick by brick, and the narrator tells your story, like it was a fable. The whole thing is rather unique, and has to be seen, to be really appreciated. The core gameplay is a diabloesque action rpg, that can be controlled with a mouse easily, + with the occasional hot keys. It is nice, but there's nothing special there. It is enjoyable though, so in the whole, i recommend this game. If you want to try something indie, this is one of the best.

Wonderful storytelling and satisfying combat

Bastion has a wonderful way of telling its story and really has to be experienced through your own play to be fully appreciated. Accompanied with great, atmospheric music it makes for a very memorable gaming experience. The combat is responsive and satisfying with great, "hit feel" and FX, and offers good customization. The shrine system provides a real challenge for even the most hardcore, by applying various penalties to the hero and buffs to the enemies. A great game with heaps of value.
