Fun loot shooter

daniyyel

This is a game bursting with creativity. Characters have zany designs, environments pop with detail and many funny one liners are exchanged. The story is strictly OK and Handsome Jack makes a good antagonist. But the main fun is shooting enemies with crazy guns. They drop loot, which you use to get more guns. The core loop is addictive and satisfying.

Big improvement on the first but can be hurt by odd leveling choices

Legolas_Katarn

Borderlands 2 is a first-person shooter that allows for up four player co-op. Almost everything from the first game has been improved on, better guns, better story, funnier interactions, better enemy variety, a memorable main villain, a more varied and interesting landscape, and a better vehicle to travel around in. One thing that hasn't been improved on is needing all your friends to be at the same level to really play together and there is an odd leveling choice where you will only get about halfway to the level cap by the end of the game, with half being the needed amount to gain access to a powerful and fun to use abilities for your character. Once the game is beaten a new game plus mode is added that makes enemies stronger, this allows you to play through again with your new power but now you will be playing the same missions and areas again and still playing as the same character instead of trying out and levelling up the other three. This problem is fixed if you also purchase the DLC which adds a lot to the main game, including giving you two additional characters, the added content will see you your level much higher without being forced to play through the game multiple times.
