Night time is fun time! After Dark is the first expansion to the hugely popular classic city simulation Cities: Skylines. The game expands on the repertoire of features and customizations designed to enhance the thrill as well as maintain the challenge of the city building experience.
Developed by Colossal Order and published Paradox Interactive, the central feature of the latest expansion is to utilize the day and night cycle and alter the approach to managing your city. Will you construct a bustling city that lives and breathes at night or will your city succumb to the perils and misadventures of the dark hours? You’re only limited by your imagination, so take control, the sky is the limit!
Find out what life is like in the city when the sun goes down!
Utilize the Day and Night Cycle:
The city changes during the hours of the day and affects citizen schedules. Traffic is visibly slower at night and some zoned areas do not work with full efficiency. This expansion will put you in control of managing the different aspects of the day and night cycles.
Commercial areas can specialize in leisure activities. Leisure areas are especially active during the night, but work like regular commercial areas during the day.
Commercial areas such as bars and restaurants, small marina and fishing tours on the shoreline can specialize in beach activities.
Expanded City Services:
Criminals will now be taken to Prison from Police buildings. Taxi service will help citizens and tourists travel around the city. Cargo hubs are harbors that accept cargo trains straight to the terminal. International airport is a huge airport, allowing much more traffic than the previous airport and has a metro station attached to it. Bus terminal allows citizens to transfer to other bus lines in the terminal building.
New transportation options:
Bikes and dedicated bike lanes and bike ways let citizens opt for a faster alternative to walking. Bus lanes can be used to help the public transportation run smoother.
The first expansion to Cities: Skylines adds a new feature to consider : the day and night cycle (for free). The main additions, apart from the cycle, are more buildings, airports, bus stations and so on. It technically improves the base game, as seen with tourism and the crime system. It adds a lot for its price, more than hours of enjoyment and a lot of content. A must for any C:S lover.
A great addition to a great game that expands at a really fast pace. Cities have: Skylines is a real pearl among citybuilders, and After Dark adds some interesting options. However, if you solely are interested in the cycle of day and night know it is available for free on the core game for quite some time. However, I still strongly recommend buying the extension.
After Dark, as the name implies, builds upon the simulation with the usage of day-night cycles by adding variety to the way you build your city. Among the biggest improvements are the districts that add nightlife and tourism into the mix and the bike lanes which, combined with the Network Extensions 2 mod, can really aid in building pedestrian and cycling based areas. This DLC adds some infrastructure additions that add depth to the city simulation aspect that really should've been in the base game. Overall, its a good DLC to get if it goes on sale. Just remember to get the Rush Hour mod to really enhance the day-night system.
City skylines is a city management game much like the Sim-city series , it comes as a payed DLC and more free content that's going to be added in the future that doesn't need you acquiring the DLC to download, the main Feature of this expansion is The day and night cycle which doesn't really affect gameplay overall, and this btw is a free feature which can be applied to your base game without acquiring the DLC, gameplay wise ,between day and night the city will do different things, during night time for example you have less traffic therefore congestion is reduced and some requirements for merchants differ in day than night , making it busier in day time than in night time which is what naturally is presumed. other things that change are in the paid DLC , during daytime your city will consume more power and less power in night time which will help you save some money during each month , there's no big indicators in what the differences between day and night are , but you will pick it up after playing the game for a while , many added features like jails where you can have arrested criminals that police arrest which will make your population happy , also European buildings are added for the new maps that are added in previous expansions , in addition you can create your own building style. new buildings added include : Taxi Depot , taxi's don't have set routes which is pretty good but they cost more, Bus station , which is just like a bus depot but has bigger capacity , Cyclists which use the side roads to move about and consume no fuel , new Road Types with different numbers of lanes for buses and Cyclists , the Prison where criminals where the police stations can't hold all of them , so you have the prison now to hold more criminals, in addition to rehabilitating criminals and resetting them back in society and worth mentioning that crime happens a lot more in night time than day time , another building is Cargo Hub which is a Cargo harbor and a Train terminal which connects the sea routes with train rails, final is the international Airport which enhances the overall businesses and transport. it's a very good DLC that adds a lot of new features and nice free content to the base game. although the price is a bit steep , i suggest you wait for at least a 33% off offer to get this although if you're a fan you should pick this up now.
After Dark is a brand new DLC for Cities Skylines, in which the day/night cycle is an important feature of the gameplay. In fact some elements will change radically if you play on night or day, like the traffic, so you need to carefully plan your city considering all unexpected factors you will face off. Very suggested if you are still playing Skylines, a new reason to come back if you stopped.
