Darkness Within is a series of adventure games inspired by famous horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. In "The Dark Lineage", the second installment of the Darkness Within series, players again take the role of police detective Howard Loreid, who suffered from the paranormal happenings around him in the first volume “In Pursuit of Loath Nolder”. Now, Howard discovers that his own horrible past is connected with the madness that is about to swallow him. This second volume will see the Darkness Within saga come to its unsettling conclusion.

The Dark Lineage will take you to places where the "things" of the past still live, and all the memories that should be long-forgotten are still remembered; including a drowsy, depressing town called Arkhamend, a Victorian mansion that conceals some horrible secrets, a dilapidated building inside forbidding, snow-clad woods and dim underground buildings and tunnels. The Dark Lineage is even more frightening and stronger than the previous installment so prepare yourself for the descending darkness, this time will be your last...

Strikes a critical balance between horror and adventure genres !

Darkness Within 2 is the second instalment of the series and it continues the story of the detective from the first game who suffers from a great deal of horror and hallucinations whilst investigating a murder in the first game , this time he needs to find the connection in his past life with recent events that caused his current mental state, the gameplay follows the same pace as the first game , you play in first person but what is different this time is that you actually get to move the camera to look around and move around with the mouse and keyboard which made me very happy as it took me a while to get used to clicking 6 times to walk through a a corridor in the first game, you're presented with a number of puzzles that you need to solve to unlock the secrets of the past inside a an old Victorian mansion , the graphics aren't that great but they do the job and they offer nice details that you need in a puzzle game making the puzzles comprehensible, the sound effects are once again top notch and sink you deep into the experience ,in my opinion this one is better than it's predecessor in many ways, If you're a fan of horror and adventure games I highly recommend picking up this compelling game.
