A fast-paced adventure game with the focus on flow, you will be let loose in a big open world where nothing will stop you but yourself. Playing as an old broken racing robot accidentally dropped from a giant repair-ship, onto a post-apocalyptic earth.
The ship stops at a fuel station and could be leaving at any second. Broken and unable to move you have to use the environment to gain momentum and get to the ship in time!
Defunct has a story. You're a robot with a broken motor trying to reach the repair shop to get your engine fixed. You'll have to jump through hoops (literally) to get there, all the while trying to keep up momentum so you don't have to sputter along. I enjoyed playing this game, but it's a lot harder than I expected. Controls are very responsive, but the amount of precision required to avoid accidentally braking uphill or perfectly land a jump on a small platform is far more difficult than I was ready for. The game is clearly designed to encourage speed runs (and there is even a Time Trial mode for each level), but I wasn't able to make a fast finish on any of the levels. I often crashed into a wall or piece of debris, causing me to lose nearly all of my speed, and the levels are usually difficult to finish if you don't maintain your momentum. There's a lot to like here, but it may not be for everyone.
Great and unique mix of action-adventure and racing game with great artstyle and tons of fun! As a small robot you wander beautifully-made world that humans abandoned long time ago. Using clever gravity-banding mechanics you race other robots for parts and various prizes. You uncover secrets about the world you're in and learn new things. So far so good. But sadly when you really start to enjoy this game a lt - it ends. It's quite short (2-3 hours max) and feels like cut in the middle of the story. It's still quite nice experience, but will leave you disappointed because it ends too quickly.
