I'm just a casual at racing games and play them with a controller and really enjoyed this. Just mentioning that since different audiences are likely to have completely different opinions on racing games. The pros: + The car physics are really fun feel like a perfect balance between arcade and simulation. + There are many different cars to choose between, which always is nice, and there's a decent amount of tweaking (not cosmetic) + There are also many different tracks in many different locations, and they all look really great, especially in rain. + The amount of racing types may not be that great for a rally fan, but I love the variation, and gymkhana is great! + Games for Windows Live is gone. It's GONE!!! The cons: - As I said, for a rally fan this may not be optimal. If that's what you want, then check out Dirt: Rally instead. I haven't played it, but people seem to like it.
Some say DiRT 2 was the last good game in the series. Don't believe them - DiRT 3 is good and you can have a lot of fun with this game. It's a fun and nice looking racing game, which is about more than usual racing - it includes several disciplines in which you can try your skills. And you can safely assume it will keep you entertained for quite some time, as the game comes with the full collection of additional stuff released for it. So you get all the additional cars, routes, events and locations that were available for the game. Not a bad deal if you ask me, especially if you're into car racing games and don't expect complete realism.
