Game description

Motorsport by its very nature is dangerous. DiRT 4 is all about embracing that danger. It’s about the thrill, exhilaration and adrenaline that is absolutely vital to off-road racing. And more than that, it’s about loving that feeling. It’s about pushing flat out next to a sheer cliff drop. Going for the gap that’s slightly too small. Seeing how much air you can get in a truck. They call it ‘being fearless’.

DiRT 4 also features a game-changing system called Your Stage; an innovative rally route creation tool that allows you to produce an almost-infinite number of unique stages at the press of a button. You choose your location and set the route parameters, then Your Stage does the hard work to create a unique rally stage that you can race, share with your friends and then challenge them to beat your time. Your Stage allows experienced rally players to create longer, more technical routes, whilst newcomers can create simpler shorter routes as they hone their skills.

With DiRT 4, Codemasters have sought to combine the levels of thrill and realism from last year’s DiRT Rally with the fearless excitement, accessibility and adrenaline-fuelled races previously seen in its critically acclaimed prequels DiRT 2 and DiRT 3.

Featuring classic rally racing that continues to build on the foundations set by the Colin McRae Rally games, the bruising contests from the official FIA World Rallycross Championship, the crazy battles of racing trucks and buggies, and the outrageous fun of open events in Joyride, players will face challenges from locations that span three continents.

• OVER 50 OF THE MOST BREATH-TAKING OFF-ROAD CARS EVER BUILT – Including Ford Fiesta R5, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, Subaru WRX STI NR4 and Audi Sport quattro S1 E2

• 5 INCREDIBLE RALLY LOCATIONS WITH MILLIONS OF ROUTES – Australia, Spain, Michigan, Sweden & Wales

• THE OFFICIAL GAME OF THE FIA WORLD RALLYCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP – Race at Montalegre, Lohéac Bretagne, Hell, Holjes & Lydden Hill in a multitude of different series

• LANDRUSH – Short-course dirt track racing in Pro Buggies, Pro-2 Trucks, Pro-4 Trucks and Crosskart vehicles in California, Nevada and Mexico

• JOYRIDE - Laptime challenges, smash challenges, free-play area and send challenges to friends

• DiRT ACADEMY – Taking place at the DirtFish Rally School in Washington, USA, learn the skills, techniques and practice to become the best!

• CAREER MODE – create your driver, compete across the disciplines, gain sponsors and build your team with clear goals and rewards

• COMPETITIVE GAMING – Daily, weekly and month-long challenges against fellow players from around the world

• NEXT GENERATION OF RACENET – Live ladder, leagues and tournaments, cross-platform leaderboards, enhanced CREST telemetry system

• TUNING – Tweak your set-up based on vehicle, track and weather conditions to best suit your racing style

• DAMAGE & REPAIRS – Wear and tear is faithfully recreated with an improved and realistic damage model. Damage can be repaired by hiring Engineers to work in the team’s Service Area between stages but with a finite amount of time available.

Not as good as Dirt Rally, but it shines in it's own way

OK , i read some negative reviews on this about controls being kinda weird and stuff and i am indeed kinda agreed with them based on my own experience of the game but despite of all I have to say Dirt 4 is a really good game. Its a combination of Dirt rally and Dirt 3 which both were the best in the series but It's a little bit different. they are both really good games that i enjoy playing a lot. If you want the ultimate Rally experience, I suggest Dirt Rally but if you want to have fun but still are in for a challenge, Dirt 4 is the game for you.

This game deserves more love. This is DiRT 4 not DiRT Rally 2.

I absolutely love this version of DiRT. It combines elements from DiRT 2, 3 and Rally so well and makes something a little bit different. I can easily recommend this to any rally or racing fan in general, but I can also recommend it to sim racers. The career mode has been excellent so far. There is plenty of content to go through and none of it feels dull. The inclusion of other various modes like Joy Ride and Your Stage as well as all the multiplayer content will give this game a ton of replayability. This game has gotten a lot of flack for its physics, but they're actually better than DiRT Rally's physics. I loved DiRT Rally, but I always felt like the cars were way too easy to slide and control a slide with. Now the cars have more weight to them and improved aerodynamics so you don't get those random mid-air turns like you did before. The only real issue I have with the physics at the moment is the excessive rear grip in cars. It shouldn't be that hard to get a RWD car tail happy, but it feels like something is holding the back end for you. DiRT Rally had a very similar issue to this and it was patched so I hope they do the same here. The visuals have noticeably improved as well, despite what others may say. The main thing I've noticed is improved lighting, reflections, and crowds over previous titles. The crowds are very graphically intensive so I recommend turning the setting for those down to medium-ish (turn off Advanced Blending as well). Overall I would give this an 8/10 so far. If they fix the issues I have with it then I will happily give it a 9/10.

Fun game

THIS GAME IS FUN. Buy it if you like having fun. I see a lot of reviews comparing this to Dirt Rally, and saying it is not as good. I think that they are wrong/missing the point. I would recommend this to people who like racing games. If this game were compared to Dirt 3, it is one heck of an improvement in my opinion. For starters, there is no windows live. Second, the game was not built around Ken Block. I also really enjoy the music thus far.

Demanding but super fun!

DiRT 4 as a good addition to the series when you look at the main principal of the developers. Long time ago they decided the series will be hard and challenging but fun at the same time and they stick to the formula fairly faithfully. This time is no exception because the game is very challenging and unforgiving for your mistakes on the road. Ever second count, not to mention it's easy to damage your car so you will be forced to master every turn before you will get good but be sure you will also have a lot of fun along the way.

King is back!

It was sad that DiRT disappeared from the map for nearly 6 long years, but I think it went for the better. Now the series is back stronger than ever. Graphics are amazing, sound and driving physics are good as always, it is just a great game in really great and consistent in quality series. There is only one thing that might be considered bad, and that is it doesn't bring anything new to the table or revolutionise the series. In my opinion, it's not a problem, because I can't see what they could've done to make it better or something earth shattering, other than going Burnout route. Overall, great game and well worth the wait. Recommended.
