It’s been a generation since you vanquished the evil that plagued the Land of Ehb, and now…a new menace has awakened. In Dungeon Siege II, the sequel to the best-selling RPG from Gas Powered Games, you will be called on to again wield sword and spell to save the world from a growing abomination many years in the making.

A thousand years ago, the crusaders of Azunai crossed swords with the legions of Zaramoth in the final battle of a century-long rebellion. As the tyrannical god Zaramoth struck the final blow through Azunai’s trembling shield, the earth shook. In that moment, the forces of magic were unchained, and both armies were consumed in a brilliant cataclysm that stretched for leagues across the Plain of Tears. Only a scarred wasteland remained as final testament to the First Age of Man.

And for a millennium, magic has continued to spread to the farthest corners of the world, freely flowing to any who would command it. But the tide of magic has begun to wane, heeding instead the call of an ancient legacy. From the Plain of Tears a new heir beckons, and with each day his strength grows. Consuming those who submit, eradicating those who resist. With none to oppose his ascendance, the circle will be complete, and an ancient age will begin anew.

What fate will befall the Second Age of Man? The time for judgment is nigh.

The best in the Dungeon Siege series!

This game will have you impressed by the advancements they made since the original while also maintaining the same Oldschool ARPG feeling that a lot of people enjoy from the genre, it's pretty much the same thing, the exploration in the game makes it somewhat unique in the genre, outside of that, it's hack & slash loot fest with a superb story. Dungeon Siege II finds a perfect place in between the original and the lackluster that is Dungeon Siege III, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the ARPG genre, if you can get past some of the more dated aspects of the game, you'll enjoy it for sure, and for how cheap it is on sale? You'll have a surprisingly satisfying experience for the cost.

Extremely Replayable

This game keeps me coming back to replay it time and again (a rarity for me). Extremely customizable party and characters. Great variety of equipment and spells. Long story mode. Co-op gaming is possible, but I've never tried it with this title. Graphics are great for the time period it came out. Overall an amazing game.

Takes the next step

As much as I absolutely loved DS1, and everything it brought to the genre, I love Dungeon Siege 2 even more. It really does take everything that was great about the first game up to the next level. The graphics are better, the controls are better, the story is better, the character development is better, the scenes are better. This game set the bar on what a 3rd person adventure game is supposed to be. One of the great improvements this game brings is a main bad guy, who develops with the game. You meet him at the very beginning, and during the game, you see him get stronger and more evil, until your final confrontation with him at the end. The story of this game is extremely well done in different sections (with the ability to go back and revisit early sections if you want). Character development is one of the stalwarts of this game, given you the choice of developing each of your characters in the exact way you want to. Your main character can choose to be a specialist in one area, or a well-rounded character who can fight in different ways. You can choose to have all magic wielding characters, or all melee characters, or all ranged characters, or a combination of different types (which is the most recommended). Get this game. Play this game. Love this game!!!! BTW, for a greater challenge, try playing through the game with only a single character!

Epic turn-around!

The developers of the Dungeon Siege series listened to the crowd! And that's how DS2 came to life. After hearing that the first game was too linear and offered little to no replayability, the created a game that's no longer linear and offers tons of replay value. The game still has the same awesome feel as the first instalment, with a great story and a lot of things to do. You can still command a party of heroes that you choose throughout the game, you still battle small monsters and epic bosses, and you still discover secrets and dungeons. A great improvement, considering the linearity of the first game.

This game reminded me how much I didn't like DS3

I have to give it a high rating because of what enjoyment I got out of it for its time. Not often can I go back to a game this old and still enjoy it. Unlike Dungeon Siege 3, this has an archer! I love archers and playing as an archer is satisfying as it should be in a top-down style RPG. Dungeon Crawler fans should feel right at home with this game. The graphics aren't as pretty as modern dungeon crawlers, but the silky smooth gameplay and battles make up for the experience.
