Enola is a psychological horror game following the main character Enola traveling through a world created by the memories of her girlfriend Angelica. You begin in a house searching for Angelica but very quickly you find a note from her and the house begins taking the shape of more fantastical and horrific locations. The game explores themes rarely looked at in video games as you learn more about Angelica's past and it is capable of doing it well, managing to effectively use disturbing imagery and written notes and diary entries, the game is unfortunately held back by uninteresting similar areas, boring puzzles, and occasional technical issues. The sound design is alright, what music there is can be fitting but but leaves little impression, while I am not a fan of the voice acting I have definitely seen worse in games with low production values. The game can do a good job with the placement and design of certain features but many rooms and areas are uninteresting with dull seemingly randomly placed objects. Puzzles are little more than finding the right, sometimes easily missed, item that can open the thing that you need to open to progress the game. The game feels like a less polished combination of games like Gone Home and Silent Hill 2. If the theme of the game interests you it can be worth a look.
