War. War never changes. Interplay, in the year 1997, created what now has become one of the most beloved RPG franchises ever made. Fallout was originally an cRPG with an God-view camera that feels just right. The lore is amazing, and so area the area to explore, the people to meet and the enemies to battle. You need to find everything you need to survive and test your skills in this survival game that will put you to the limits. Find weapons, gear and companions to help you in the quest to find the water chip in just 150 days to save everyone in Vault 13. Recommended.
I remember I got this game from a magazine, the heavy atmosphere pouring out of the screenshots immediately got my attention. The problem was the installer hanged on Win98, luckily my friend helped me with the installation. Boy, how grateful I am for this as Fallout appeared to be a gem I was waiting for. It is difficult to start the game as you will not find any tutorial but once you will be out of the cave be ready to immerse yourself in an adventure of your lifetime! Fallout is love, Fallout is life!
Fallout is a great RPG with an interesting plot, turn based combat, and a wonderful soundtrack. You can choose one of the three premade characters, each of them having a build based around different playstyles (Basically, brute force, diplomacy or stealth). Or you can create your own character. The game's plot revolves around the main character looking for a water chip to supply Vault 13, his home, with water, with a time limit of 100 days. Along the way they meet new people, try to help different towns and settlements they find. Or they can be completely evil and ruin everyone's lives. Fallout features a mechanic called "Karma", which is essentially how people around the world see you. Almost every single choice you make will have an effect on your karma meter, and can affect the different endings you can get. Fallout is a wonderful a game, although it is not without a few flaws. It can be a bit difficult to get into the first time you play it, and it has some bugs (One of which can make the game unbeatable). Other than that, it is one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have ever had, and even at full price I consider it a game you should buy if you are a fan of CRPGs.
This game has stood the test of time, I would say. The graphics are not too fancy compared to current iterations of this game, and gameplay is vastly different from the FPS style battles you have in Fallout 3 and NV. But this game feels truer as an RPG, really focusing on your character's stats and causing you to adapt to different situations based on those stats. This game is beyond amazing, in my opinion, and while I enjoy the newer versions of Fallout 3, New Vegas, and soon Fallout 4, I will always have a special place reserved for the first and original Fallout.
One of the great cRPGs out there. Fallout is simply a legend by its own right. If you played Fallout 3 or New Vegas and loved the lore this is the game for you. If you love old school isometric cRPGs and for some reason have yet to play this, grab it now! Fallout is one of the best games ever made in terms of story. The game is heavily inspired by 1950' American era culture - the post war euphoria, the technological advancement, the threat of nuclear bombs and the communist menace. set in an alternate timeline where the culture was frozen at that era and transistors apparently were never invented leaving computers at the vaccum tube era. Nuclear war has broken out and within mere hours the world was consumed in nuclear fire. People in the US evacuated to huge underground vaults where they hid from the nukes. The game starts with you, a citizen of vault 13, which is tasked with leaving the vault and finding a water chip to fix and save your vault. The game is featuring exquisite writing, with very good and dark humor. the visuals and audio have aged considerably and the game mechanics will feel bizarre for people who haven't experienced similar games of that era. but behind these hurdles you will find a legendary fun game
