Get Ready For A Giant-Sized Adventure!
Welcome to the world of Goliath, an action-adventure about crafting giant robots and punching monsters in the face! After stumbling through a mysterious rift, you find yourself in a mysterious world consisting of the jumbled fragments of a hundred dead civilizations. Ruined buildings from 1930s America share space with wrecked pirate ships and the overgrown remains of spaceships from a far-flung future. Several powerful factions battle for control of this strange and broken land, but even the strongest among them tremble in fear of the monstrous giants that roam the land. Fortunately, you can build giants of your own! Search the world for the items you need to craft tools and weapons, including giant robotic suits called Goliaths that will help you even the odd against the enormous creatures you confront!
To survive among the giant creatures in this dangerous and mysterious world, you must scavenge for resources and create Goliaths to battle your life. Starting with simple wooden versions, you will learn to create dozens of Goliaths from a variety of materials: wood, stone, metal and other more unique materials found in the world. Your Goliath can be customized and outfitted with weapons to create options that are perfect for every situation and players’ preferences. But robots won’t solve every problem. You’ll also need to craft items and tools, build shelters and fortresses, and choose which factions to side with in the war that’s sweeping across the land.
Not really that impressed. It feels like it could have the impact of something like like a more complex Bastion type game, but it just falls through. The graphics seem well stylized, but the music and animations are very lack luster. Many of the actions in the game don't seem to really have feel of being a big robot. Also the dialog interace is just so boring and feels tacked on. The K+M controls feel clunky with the locked camera angle. The default keybinds are also unconfigurable and feel akward. Having to spam E and then other times hold E are totally inconsistent. The game has potential, but it feels much more like an Early Access game. I would wait until we see if the developer puts in the required polish to make this better.
Goliath is a really good adventure game thats almost like mechwarrior and pokemon meshed together. Basically, you collect parts, build your mech, and then you fight with it like an action rpg adventure game. Because of this, i felt that every mech or goliath that you built was unique unto themselves. Furthermore, every mech interacted with the environment in their own way. For instance, some mechs can heal in water! In addition, you cant just do your basic attacks and defeat every enemy. You have to mix it up with skills while dodging. This gameplay is akin to diablo3 which i enjoyed very much. Next, the ui was easy to understand and very clean. Lastly, the game looks great as an indie title compared to other indies. Overall, this is a rare action rpg that switches up the typical arpg hero formula!
