Basically this expansion takes the same exact Gothic 3 world, and changes everything about it. The same locations, and the same gameplay (with a few tweaks) are now presented in a completely different story. On the positive side, it's nice to already know the world, and where everything is located (if you are familiar with the original Gothic 3), and it's good to already know how to play (how to fight, how to collect and make things, how things are supposed to work...) but that is about where the positive ended for me. As much as I absolutely loved the story and gameplay of the original, I just did not like the changes they made in the expansion. After the first few attempts of following the story and quests, I found myself simply just going into every town and wiping out all the enemies, rather than having to deal with the endless boring quests they offered. I just wanted to finish the game, rather than really enjoying it. I couldn't have been more disappointed with this remake if I tried. Everything that I loved about the original was just gone. It wasn't fun, it wasn't involving, it was just boring and I only wanted to finish it and get it done with. I won't play this game again, rather I'll go back and play through the original Gothic 3 again.
This game is without a doubt a great game but it doesnt have the same feel as gothic 1 and 2 which is a shame because its awesome that you can actually choose a side now. The world is pretty big (especially for a old game) but the story is very short i think you can complete it in 1-2 days. One thing i really love in games and also loved in this game is Arena's in every settlement there was a arena which had a few fun fights and its great to kill time in them if you dont really know what to do anymore. so in short its a great game but doesnt feel like a Gothic game
Even with the Patch and enhanced contents, this game is not worthy to be part of Gothic series. Still incomplete, boring and full of bugs that makes the game really hard to play smoothly. My advice is to buy it only in case of a great discount, or packed with the other (awesome) games of the saga!
Standing besides the greatest Open-World RPG games of our time, and often compared to the TES series, this game is a total must have. Great graphics for its time, high replayability value, fast-paced action combat, this game has everything.
Gothic 3 made a huge blast since it released. It had revolutionary graphics, great gameplay and combat, and tons of quests. The game itself is very long, and you may feel like re-playing it after you've completed it. And, this is the enhanced edition, which has some graphic, combat and gameplay improvements. Recommended.
