Gothic 3 is really good follow up to Gothic 2 - although writing was better in 2 and Night of the Raven, the combat took changes for the better in this sequel, being more action oriented. It was only bad, because of buggy AI, which loved to spam you with attacks. Huge world to explore, without holding your hand, pretty big choices, the game is pretty varied and has strong characters, although story, while good, is nothing earth shattering or thought provoking. Graphics are still nice to this day, and soundtrack is really good, so is the good old Gothic gameplay. Only thing really bad is incredible amount of bugs, but thankfuly, thanks to patches made by community with some help from original developers, the game got better and different, by fixing the bad AI and adding new effects. If you like the series, you will enjoy this one also. If you never played the series, start with 2, because it is direct sequel to it. I recommend it.
Gothic 3 is an RPG with a large world with a focus on gaining reputation with the community and factions through your actions. Completing certain quests for people or factions can result in changes to the world making you feel like you are affecting things. Story is decent and continues from the previous games with you being able to meet some characters from your past adventures. The world is large and mostly looks good for the time and the game has a good soundtrack. Combat involves clicking the left mouse button to attack, holding it to do power attacks, and defending with the right mouse button. Usually you will just mash the left mouse button to hit your opponents until they die or until they gain a sudden burst of energy and get a few hits on you, it kind of feels like what the combat of the first Witcher would be like if it lacked the strategy of different styles and potions and had worse and repetitive animations, The game also has a variety of bugs and glitches, such as problems with enemies walking through things, hit detection problems, and other issues that you will likely need community created patches to fix or improve.
