Reviews for GTR Evolution

Not a bad game, but the worst community

I'm more into arcade racing games than simulation ones, that's why I enjoy other simulation titles with some arcade elements more than the 100 % simulation of some interesting titles like this one. There are three main reasons why GTR Evolution (and Race 07) doesn't work. Gameplay is just improvable, the damage system is just broken (no pun intended) and, the most important one, the online community is awful. Have in mind that this game was given for free at some point. Gamers are not used to this simulation, and they race as if it was the end of the world when this game requires a lot of driving skills and be extra careful with your car as the damage system really sucks. "It is ok, let them race and crash in every turn", but it is not as easy as that. Picture this: you start a race in second position, make a good start, take your car to full speed and, when the next curve is just ahead you start breaking so you can take it as it should be taken. Well, guess who is not doing that and it is coming full speed right behind you crashing your car and making you lose your championship after hours of qualifying and practice sessions. NOT FUN. Oh, or maybe you are just in your final lap and you see someone racing backwards just because he knows there is nothing else he can do other than ruining other players' races. Yeah, that's not game's fault but it is not mine either.

The year 2008 has seen better games

Well, one of those "badder" racing games is this one for sure. With a lot of bugs that have never been fixed and a bad gameplay, I think this is not worth the money you spend to get it. My friend got this game last year for free, and well, he doesn't like it at all. With the exception of Koenigsegg CCX and Saleen S7-R (and maybe Audi R8) this game features not so good cars. Maybe in real life it'd be cool, but those cars are badly modeled in this game and the handling could be much improved. Some game settings allow us to change that a little bit, but only A LITTLE BIT.

If you enjoy realistic racing...

Dear gmg user, you should probably not waste your time reading this, just scroll up and buy the game. It has everything going for it, excellent graphics, great playability, the cars are the best you can find. I've been playing it for hours now, everything works like a charm, it's addictive to those who really enjoy racing simulators like me. Plus: You can drive cars every single racing enthusiast wants to drive, even F1 cars for Christ sake. I totally recommend this game. Have fun if you decided to buy it.

Nice Simulation

Even if the game is old it doesnt mean its not good! I have had some fun playing this game and im really happy with it,it is a great Racing simulation game, this game tries to keep it realistic the game mechanics are great.

Well simulated, crazy cars

Don’t be fooled by the arcade sounding name, GTR Evolution is a proper racing simulator. Turn off the traction control at your peril though, and go for a lap around the infamous Nurburgring. This game is great, and it can sometimes really be a challenge to keep the car on the road, as it tries to skid off. And if you get bored of high octane action, just do a private practise session and have some fun doing donuts, and leaving elevenses on the track. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who has interest in motorsports or racing games, or someone who is just seeking a challenge.
