Heavy Rain was created to be a serious movie like experience that ended up fail spectacularly in every way that matters. The acting is poor, the plot is full of holes both big and small that ruin the story and character motivations, your choices almost never really matter and when they do you tend to just be missing out on content or changing the ending, and characters are cliched caricatures. The most important thing to know about this game though, is that it is hilarious. You can spend the game letting two of the main characters get as injured as possible because they can't die, they can survive car crashes, getting beaten up, electrocution, losing body parts, multiple gunshot wounds, etc. You can witness an out of place sex scene (where they were too lazy to even remove any of their clothes or to place the camera in a way that doesn't show them still dressed) and pointless romance with a women you barely know while you have a video on the side of the bed of your character's son trapped and slowly drowning. You can fail every singe button input in a chase scene causing you to crash into people for no reason, get into a fight with a chicken, do multiple face plants, get hit by multiple cars, all without being prevented from catching the man you are chasing because he is too busy throwing things at you to trip over rather than getting away. David Cage went on to make Beyond Two Souls which has some great ideas and moments mixed in with a lot of terrible moments in the way Cage usually tends to ruin his good ideas but Heavy Rain is a game that had no good ideas and is such a spectacular failure in storytelling that you get an amazing unintentional black comedy. Everyone should experience pressing X to Jason at least once.
