Discovery of a new Goldilocks planet has led to the creation of a new type of army: One that is made of metal and steel. One that can’t feel pain or fear. One that is said to be our only hope against a possible alien invasion. Sadly, even with all the technological advancements available to future governments, they are not fully in control of the machines… The bot-mageddon is coming and it will be up to one our brightest scientists to help us against the inevitable.
To me Iron Soul seems much like Rise of the Triad, although both games are very different. Rise of the Triad is very unserious kind of a shooter, while Iron Soul is much more serious and has a decent background story too. The common element of both games is that they combine a dynamic shooter with a platformer. So not only you have to look around and clear your surroundings of enemies, but also jump on platforms and seriously exercise your manual skills. Iron Soul is still a very new game, which hasn't built a large gamer base yet, but it's interesting enough to make me convinced that it's only a matter of time.
Imagine a slightly less budgeted Mass Effect protagonist who has a robotic armor. This is Iron Soul. The gameplay encompasses the standardised 3rd person shooter with platform puzzle elements will appeal to fans who are familiar with the genre. This game is a slight breath of fresh air from the standard AAA titles though at the same time it lacks in areas that we have been spoilt in. For instance the battle system / aiming feels sluggish. The game is not as responsive as I would like it to be and like most shooter games (besides ME) the story is the generic "we are in a war" scenario. I would recommend this still to anyone who wants to move aside from the norm and looking to play a fun and dynamic shooter for hours on end.
