Only good with friends

I'm going to be brutally honest here. This game is ONLY worth it if you have a few other friends to play with. It's simply the only way you'll really be able to enjoy multiplayer matches due to the simple fact that the only people left really playing this game are the people who've been playing since it came out, meaning you'll be beaten completely and won't even be given a chance to have fun. Basically get it, but only if your friends have it/are also getting it.

Standard edition would do it for me

Where Men of War: Assault Squad was commonly known as a demanding and serious skirmish wargame, and had reputation of a good quality game, the sequel of the game didn't manage to earn the same praise and respect from gamers. I think it was partially due to the fact that it's difficult to please both casual players and serious strategists at the same time, as both groups have completely different expectations from their games. But still, Assault Squad 2 is not a bad game. It can be enjoyed, but one has to be aware that there are some better alternatives available. The special Deluxe Edition boasts some additional bonus content, lbut they're mostly optional variants, like different HUD or experience gaining boosts. Nothing I really care for, but if you think such addons really improve your gaming experience, why not grab it? I myself don't think these are important enough to get the Deluxe pack.
