Game description

”If Revengeance didn't have camera issues this would be the easiest 10 I've ever given. As things stand it's still brilliant, staking out new territory in the genre and adapting certain Metal Gear characteristics so well that it makes the competition look outrageously bad.” - Eurogamer

”Despite its best efforts, developer Platinum Games sometimes gets in the way of its own pace -- especially for those who aren’t into the franchise. However, Rising’s troubles are rarely enough to derail the incredible momentum of an always-entertaining, action-oriented Metal Gear spinoff.” - IGN

Developed by Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE takes the renowned METAL GEAR franchise into exciting new territory with an all-new action experience. The game seamlessly melds pure action and epic story-telling that surrounds Raiden – a child soldier transformed into a half-human, half-cyborg ninja who uses his High Frequency katana blade to cut through any thing that stands in his vengeful path!

A huge success on both Xbox 360® and PlayStation®3, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE comes to PC with all the famed moves and action running within a beautifully-realised HD environment.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a collaborative effort between Platinum Games and Hideo Kojima. What were left with is an extremely fast-paced hack and slash title set in the Metal Gear universe. Solid Snake fans will immediately be disappointed as you once again play as the ninja cyborg; Raiden. The highlights of the game are the fast-paced combat, the stunning visuals, and the ridiculous boss fights. MGSRR does a great job with their combat system which is designed to keep you on the offensive while you chain together parries and attacks without the over-reliance on dodging. The game also adds a slice anywhere mechanic which allows you to cut wherever you aim. This essentially allows you to cut enemies and objects in the environment into a million pieces. This really doesn't add anything significant to the gameplay but its still quite a bit of fun. The graphics, visuals, and environments are great. Its a treat to watch the explosions and chaos unfold around you as you move from one varied area to the next. Unfortunately, the game is fairly linear and doesn?t allow for much room for exploration as you?re constantly hit with frustrating blue boundaries. The game features an over the top story with plenty of humor mixed in. Its entertaining but dont expect the same level of depth as other Metal Gear Games. The inclusion of VR missions, where you have to complete simple objectives in a virtual reality training program add a bit more content. The main game is very short however, clocking in at around 5 hours. Granted its a fun-filled 5 hours as the game features some of the best boss fights on the market. A few extra things to note: A controller is recommended for the game. This is a console port. It does look better on the PC than the Xbox 360 and PS3 but it is capped at 1920 x 1080 resolution. This means if you're using a 2560 x 1440 resolution monitor, you won't be able to run it at that resolution, you'll have to downscale to 1080p.

Something fresh but not as good as main serie.

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE is something different than Kojima got us used to, but it couldn't be any different since it wasn't made by Kojima Productions. It still has elements know from the previous, canonic games but for me it's not as good. There are nice action scenes, the first fight with Metal Gear is really breathtaking but later it all goes downhill. If you liked Raiden though, you will be delighted.

Another amazing Platinum game

Platinum Games is a team mostly made out of ex-Capcom employees who worked on franchises such as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. Now they've very well known for Bayonetta and unique approach to games. Here it's no different and what we got with Rising is amazing. It's pretty much Devil May Cry on steroids with Japanese insanity with huge bosses and great, unrealistic fun. Cutting enemies to pieces in slow motion is awesome, soundtrack and graphics are great, controls are responsive when fighting, but there are some things that are not so good. First of all is forced stealth, which flat out sucks, because of controls and camera position - it incredibly kills the pacing of this overall awesome game. Second thing that is hard in this game is blocking - you absolutely must play this game with gamepad, because without it you will die a lot. Block instead of being binded to the respective button, it is automatic, BUT you must quickly press the direction button according to direction of incoming attack. It sometimes sucks, because camera is all over the place, but you can get used to it. Just don't start the game on highest difficulty setting and you will be good. Other than that, there is nothing to complain. If you like Devil May Cry series, Bayonetta or Ninja Gaiden, you will more than enjoy this game. Just don't expect another Metal Gear Solid game, because you're asking for disappointment.

Kick-ass action game

This is a high-octane action game in the style PlatinumGames is known for. There is a lot to love. The action is fast and frantic. Combat is fluid and varied. Set pieces and bosses are awe inspiring. The game looks great and runs at a silky smooth 60 frames per second. It is the finest action game you can get on PC.

The Future of Action Games

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a great game. It takes the action genre to the next level, with one stunning feature that puts it above the rest: the ability to aim exactly where you want to cut with your sword, and the ability to cut objects exactly where you aim in real time--even in the air. This feature alone made the game worth playing for me, and it's what I waited until release for to try. If that wasn't enough, the game has stunning visuals, and, as expected, the combat system is one of the best ever made. The boss fights are also engrossing and difficult. The only thing this game lacks is a decent storyline and more character development. The story was much too full of politics for my liking. Other than that, this game is a must-play for its next-generation features and ideas, and I hope to see more like it in the future.
