You are 4 friends. On a couch. You have 4 controllers. All you need is a post-apocalyptic excuse to duke it out. Only you never thought you’d love a fungi spewing gun that always leads to the same end result: glorious dismemberment. Moribund is a local multiplayer game that takes place in a post apocalyptic world where a highly aggressive fungus strain has devoured most of the life. The gameplay is fast paced and has an "easy to learn, hard to master" approach. Two to four players can play simultaneously.
Each player has a gun with two firing modes. The first mode is used to immobilize the enemy. While the enemy is immobilized, you can charge you harpoon (your second firing mode) and shoot it against the helpless enemy. If he hasn't escaped then his gory, splattery death is guaranteed. Simple right? But when you add 4 players, a couple of hazards and power ups in the mix everything becomes much more exciting.
Moribund is a game that was specially created for the local gameplay and here it works very well. As for the rest, well if you want to play alone you will probably get bored really soon. The game is still in development so there is hope for single player too but at this state get the game and few friends and you will have fun otherwise wait for some updates.
Moribund is a local multiplayer post-apocalyptic 2D arena shooter with a strong emphasis on gore. -Gameplay- 1-4 fast paced local multiplayer game. The objective of the game is to be the first one to get to 10 kills. You get two guns, one that shoots some device that holds an opponent down by their tendons (like I said, strong emphasis on gore) and the other one is a harpoon that decapitates your opponent. Best played on a gamepad! -Graphics, Sound & Artstyle- Moribund takes a dark and ominous approach to their artstyle being that the setting is post-apocalyptic they take it a step further and with the element of gore, it really feels like an immersive universe. While I didn't care much for the constant talking or taunting. -Price- The retail price is 9.99 USD -How many hours estimated?- By far Moribund has been the most fun my crew has had filming. Even the people who lost wanted to keep playing. If multiplayer gets added i can easily see myself playing 30-40 hours minimum of Moribund. As it stands, it'll still get you a good 20-25 hours. -Buy it Now? Wait for Sale? Don't Buy?- As this is still in Early Access, there is much that has been promised to be added by the devs including a single player challenge mode, 20 more levels to the already ridiculous 80 levels. However the best experience to be had with Moribund is with 4 local players, which might be a stretch for most Steam users. If you have a couple of friends, and you love gore + fast paced arena action BUY IT NOW! Otherwise, wait till singleplayer gets added, even if the price is projected to rise a little. WAIT FOR SALE.
Moribund is an early access 2D arena battling game that supports up to four players in local multiplayer matches. Each character has a gun with a firing mode to trap an enemy and a mode to charge up a shot to kill them. Stages are made more interesting with different hazards such as firing harpoons, explosives, spinning blades, etc and, while they might not look very interesting, they have some good backgrounds. Unfortunately, like many enjoyable arcade style games released on Steam, the game has no multiplayer component and is meant to be played with controllers so you will need to be able to have your friends over, own four controllers, and have you computer able to use all four controllers at the same time (either requiring a lot of spare USB slots and wired controllers or owning a wireless receiver). In a recent update (1-13) they mentioned being unable to add multiplayer with their current resources and that is why they need a publisher, their previous update was in September so, while the game might be in Early Access, they seem to be in need of more support to update and ship the final product. It can be fun to play with friends, as most things can be, but the game isn't that interesting and I don't know if the developer will get the assistance needed to add multiplayer or to further improve on it.
