Nightfall: Escape puts you in the shoes of a field journalist who is on a mission to investigate the mysterious disappearances in a remote area. Explore the place, search for leads and use your wits to survive the hidden terrors of the cursed place. Tread carefully, for curiosity may come at a price.
Ara Cruz, a field journalist finds herself trapped in an old mansion rumored to be a place where people suddenly disappear to. As she struggles to find her way out, she must face the perils that lurk inside the said place. Will she be able to get the scoop she went there for and live to tell the tale, or will the missing victims count increase by one?
Nightfall Escape is a first person horror game that will have you exploring a mansion while solving puzzles and trying to avoid monsters. You have a flashlight that you can quickly change to a red setting that will help you discover hidden items. The voice acting and script are poor, going off of the trailer you might think that it is intentional, a nod to Resident Evil, but it becomes clear that it is more likely that the script was quickly translated leading to add or unneeded word choices and that it is being read by people who don't speak English. The graphics look like they are from a game from the 90s but there are occasionally some well drawn short cutscenes that help with the atmosphere. The production value might not be high but this isn't just a lazy Slenderman clone or a game meant to be played by screaming Youtubers or Twitch streamers, there actually is some thought that went into this game, some good environments and creepy moments, and some decent puzzles.
Nightfall: Escape is a very well crafted horror-adventure game and should be played by fans of the genre... in my opinion it doesn't have anything less than good horrors like Amnesia or Outlast, generally speaking. The story is really something you will remember, a thrilling experience filled with a breathtaking atmosphere, very dark and full with despair. Artistically speaking, they nailed it. Gameplay-wise it is a bit clunky, definitely the worst part of the game, but it's not this game's focus., When you'll get acquainted with it, you'll like the other parts that make this a good horror game.
