This contains Red Dead Redemption, a landmark open world game and all of the DLC. RDR must be played to be believed. Rockstar nailed the period and the aesthetics. Its filled with interesting characters and lots of variety in missions. The DLC is fun too. Killing zombies is a fun diversion from the main quest.
Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Collection contains both the base game and the DLC Undead Nightmare which acts as its own self-contained story. Red Dead Redemption is a third-person western game in the style of Rockstar's GTA franchise. Very story based game with some slow moments both to teach you how to play or to build up character and atmosphere later in the game. The game is open world with much of it being outside of towns, there are a variety of settlements but most are pretty small and unless you are in a story mission offer little more than a place for some activities like playing cards. While the main story is good I found that most of the supporting cast fell flat and that the game reached a low point for some time once you travel to Mexico, I never really like the main character either. Even with that said it's a rare western title that allows you to explore the world while taking on a variety of side quests and activities. Combat can be enjoyable, as you go through the game you are taught by different gunfighters how to activate a mode to slow time or to quickly mark locations on a target to shoot. Multiplayer was also a good feature with some co-op activities and player vs player modes that started with each team facing off in a quick-draw duel with the opposing gang, though that likely doesn't have much of a population if the servers are even still up. Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare DLC is a non-canon expansion that acts in a similar way to GTA 4's expansions, it can be played by itself and takes place near the end of the original game's storyline. John has his family back when suddenly the west becomes full of zombies that attack his home. You begin looking for a way to find a cure, running into old characters along the way, showing you how the game's cast would handle a zombie apocalypse. The zombies themselves borrow a lot from Left 4 Dead as many zombie games were doing at the time, you have stronger versions and ones that spit at you. You have some new cosmetic options and some mythical creatures have been added to the game, including the four horses of the apocalypse which you can ride. Some of the side activities are similar to the base game objectives, only altered to fit the new zombie theme. While there are a lot of familiar elements it's a good expansion. If you are just now getting the game this version is worth picking up.
