Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Red Faction: Guerrilla re-defines the limits of destruction-based game-play with a huge open-world, fast-paced guerrilla-style combat, and true physics-based destruction.
You decide who, when, where and how to battle. Utilize guerrilla tactics, improvised weaponry, and modified vehicles to lead insurgent attacks on EDF targets. Launch attacks based on your own gameplay style, take on missions in any order you choose, or engage in destructive activities to weaken the EDF's grip on Mars.
Use destruction to your tactical advantage, setting ambushes or chain reaction explosions to attack enemy strongholds and permanently modify the game environment.
Blow holes in a wall or floor to set an ambush or escape, take out a staircase to stop your pursuers, or drive vehicles through blown out walls.
Carve your path through an ever changing landscape as you improvise your combat tactics - mixing gameplay styles, vehicles, weapons and explosives to defeat the EDF.
Explore the huge, unforgiving Martian landscape, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos; then tear through the fully destructible open-world environments swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire.
There is no place to hide when you put your guerrilla warfare skills to the test in a variety of highly destructive multiplayer combat modes.

I kinda pity those poor Earth soldiers. Sure, they oppress the martians, but come on, how can someone expect them to fight against native martian miners? I mean they can't even use cover, because a hammer wielding maniac can just knock it right on their heads! And if they think what that maniac does with a hammer is insane, they are in for a treat, when we get our hands on a battlemech! Red Faction Guerilla is made by the same people that got us saints row, one of my favourite series, and i think that just says it all. If you like Saints Row 2, but wish you could actually demolish the buildings, look no further! In this game, you can really let loose your destructive side.
Either play it stealthily, or dive head-first into the action, you'll get to enjoy the game. But the Physics system is what makes it truly great. Sure, the game has a story in which you free the Human-Populated region of Mars, but still, destroying things is funnier than anything. Stabilising tactics of positioning and detonation of Charges, it brings up the tactical person within the player. I really enjoyed it, and i recommend it to any RPG, Third Person Shooter or Open World gamer.
This game is amazing! I must of sunk a 500 or so hours alone on the Xbox version just running around with cheats on and playing multiplayer. Pros: Fun game. Amazing physics. Wonderful atmosphere. Fair graphics. Good story. Some nice random lore from the earlier Red Faction games. Devs went back and fixed all the bugs. The devs give you the reconstruction tool after you beat the game. Cons: Multiplayer is dead. All though the devs did try to revive multiplayer, it didn't really work. But I give them a big fat gold star for trying.
The hacking and slashing and destruction in this game are awesome. Although it has some dated graphics, and could do with some better side missions, and the ability to reset the world map. It has fun shooting, good weapons, and a hole lot of space for random crazy fun. The biggest issue is the fact that what you destroy kind of stays destroyed which sucks towards the giant bridge, which you kinda gotta destroy to get more money.
It's the only Red Faction game which I wanted to play for so long - but because of Games For Windows Live it was kind of hard. Every gamer probably got problems with this annoying program. But guess what? You can finally play Red Faction Guerilla on Steam without it! There are achievements and cards too. And about Red Faction - this might not the most enjoyable game in this universum in my opinion, but it's not so bad. This Red Faction game only have destruction at best level - it's far another level than in first Red Faction and IT'S SO MUCH FUN. Too bad the story isn't so great and each of missions are rather repetetive, but not to the point to be boring. Optimization in RF Guerilla is also fine, friend of mine played it normal on rather old PC. If you enjoy destroying things you will have fun playing Red Faction Guerilla. But if you are looking for something with rich story then you might want to skip it.
